EFCC Insists CBN Under Emefiele Forged 2 Signatures To Defraud Nigeria Of $6.2m

The EFCC told an FCT High Court on Monday that the signatures of late President Muhammadu Buhari and former SGF Boss Mustapha were forged to withdraw $6.23 million from the CBN under the false claim that it was for foreign election observers in the 2023 elections.

Testifying at the trial of former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele, EFCC investigator Chinedu Eneanya said five CBN officials moved the money using forged documents and that forensic analysis confirmed the signatures of Buhari and Mustapha were fake. He added that although Emefiele claimed his own signature was also forged, no forensic test was conducted on it.

Eneanya said five CBN staff who signed the internal memo authorising the release were only suspended, not charged. During cross‑examination, he admitted no investigator confirmed that Emefiele personally received any money.

The defence accused the EFCC of delaying the case by repeatedly bringing similar witnesses and asked the court to close the prosecution’s case if it fails to produce its remaining two witnesses by April 28, 2026 Justice Hamza Muazu adjourned the matter to that date for continuation of trial.

    1. He is not a scape goat anything, he's also part of them. Why is his own different from his predecessors?

  3. I wonder why this man is still alive? Withe level of hardship that he inflicted on Nigerians. Quite a number of people died as well. He even had the nerve to build a whole community as an estate in his State. I don't know how he sleeps at night. In Nigeria trade by barter became the order of the day, due to currency shortage. In my opinion, Emefiele is one of the most wicked person on earth. All other people who collaborated with him, will surely receive the wrath of God.

  4. I was listening to man around town on ITV radio this morning, some said Emefiele steps on the wrong toe and and refused to join APC so his sins will be forgiven and wiped out just like Yahaya Bello .

  5. Far-fetched!
The burden falls on EFCC to prove this allegation against Emefiele. Why didn't they conduct a forensic investigation on Emiefele's signature.

Where Emefiele overreached his bounds was dancing to the tune of the cabal during Buhari's administration, daring to declare interest in politics while still in office as CBN Governor and, changing the currency and causing the masses untold hardship!
I wonder what he was thinking!🤔🙄

It's unfortunate that he got carried away and didn't know when to RESIGN instead of destroying his years of experience as an accomplished banker and former lecturer

Two of the pipers that played the tune he danced to are dead while the rest are untouchable.
