Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered the transfer of 1,332 officers out of the Delta State Police Command after the killing of 28‑year‑old Mene Ogidi by ASP Nuhu Usman in Effurun.
After the incident which triggered nationwide outrage, the IGP immediately withdrew all officers involved, moved them to Force Headquarters, Abuja, and dismissed those found culpable , including ASP Usman , who were then handed over to the Attorney General of the Federation for prosecution.
The redeployment sends the officers from Delta to Anambra, Imo, Edo, Enugu and other commands as part of efforts to reform policing in the state.

Way to go.

ReplyDeleteI have had deeply frustrating experiences with the Nigerian Police, particularly around issues of corruption and abuse of power. It often feels like accountability is lacking, and that can make interactions with officers feel intimidating rather than protective.
ReplyDeleteThere’s a real need for reform, stronger oversight, and a culture shift that prioritizes professionalism and respect for citizens.
I like this.
