According to her, Peggy’s father has refused to return the bride price, which under traditional marriage customs must be refunded before the union can be formally dissolved.
In her words: “Peggy Ovire, you do not want a divorce with Freddie Leonard because you have been intentionally prolonging this matter and your father has refused to return the bride price. Tell yourself the truth and go and beg Freddie Leonard. Maybe all of us will join hands with you and plead with him to consider taking you back.”
Rita Amy described Peggy as a “pained woman” who is trying to destroy Freddie’s life and career by spreading propaganda online, insisting that Freddie has already asked her to leave his house and his life. She explained that Freddie wants the marriage to end and has repeatedly requested the return of the bride price so both parties can move on. She stressed that no court in Nigeria can force a man to remain in a marriage he no longer wants, regardless of whatever stories are being circulated.
The lawyer also dismissed allegations that Freddie is involved with multiple women, including married ones, calling the claims lies and pointing out that Freddie and a woman named Inky have been friends since around 2012 or 2013, long before his marriage.
As the drama intensifies, old videos of the couple have resurfaced online, including one from their wedding day where Peggy praised Freddie as a good man who does not chase women and vowed to respect and submit to him.

ReplyDeleteIt's only in Nigeria, I have read lawyers coming out and descending so low to fight and drag online. Instead of issuing a civilised official statement and leave it at that. It makes me question their intergrity, Professionalism and self respect. It shows "anywhere the stomach faces" and I can only imagine the rot there could be in the judicial system.
