Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has been taken to court by Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq over alleged cyberbullying and defamation.
The governor claims Saraki’s April 17, 2026 post questioning his educational qualifications damaged his reputation and could cause public unrest.
Saraki’s lawyers told the Kwara High Court that the case was improperly filed, the court lacked jurisdiction, and that Saraki’s comments were simply an exercise of his freedom of speech as the opposition leader.
Governor Abdulrazaq’s legal team asked for a bench warrant to compel Saraki’s appearance.
Justice M. O. Folorunso adjourned the matter to July 3, 2026 for ruling.
