Police confirmed that a 45‑year‑old man opened fire during a custody meeting at the facility, killing four women and two men, all staff members. The suspect, reportedly of Turkish descent, fled with a 65‑year‑old female accomplice but was arrested shortly after near the city limits.
Authorities described the incident as a family‑related dispute, not terrorism. The center, located on Dankersstrasse, provides shelter for young mothers and pregnant women.
Police say the suspect’s three‑month‑old daughter and her mother were unharmed.
