Former Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison‑Madueke has been cleared of all bribery charges by a London court as a jury at the Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, returned not guilty verdicts on all six counts after a five‑month trial.
The charges included five counts of accepting bribes and one count of conspiracy to commit bribery. Jurors deliberated for more than 46 hours before reaching their decision.
Diezani, who served as Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum Resources from 2010 to 2015 and became the first female President of OPEC, had been accused of receiving luxury benefits from oil industry players seeking government contracts. She consistently denied the allegations.

DeleteI can see how she wasn’t found guilty of the bribery charges. Lots of people in office receive gifts from contractors and companies. Do the recipients request those huge hamper baskets, car and land gifts??

Let’s wait for the corruption charges.. Even that too all she needs to do is switch parties and she will be forgiven.
Nigeria na a big joke. The Chinese don’t tolerate any iota of corruption and it will be very good if the government can ban all senior government officials from receiving gifts from any company they do business with.
