THE FASTEST WAY TO CREATE TENANCY WAHALA IS TO TREAT A RENTED APARTMENT AS IF YOU OWN IT.
Some tenants spend years in a property and begin to assume they can do whatever they like.
Here are things you should NEVER do as a tenant:
- Never stop paying rent because you're angry with your landlord.
- Never pay rent without collecting evidence of payment.
- Never ignore a Notice to Quit.
- Never carry out major renovations without permission.
- Never sublet the property without the landlord's approval.
- Never assume a verbal agreement will protect you.
- Never move in without understanding the tenancy terms.
- Never allow strangers to occupy the property indefinitely.
- Never damage the property because you're moving out. -Naija people do this a lot
- Never assume "my landlord is a nice person" is a legal strategy.
Many tenancy disputes don't start in court, they start with one avoidable mistake
Know your rights.
Know your responsibilities.
Avoid avoidable wahala

For Naija you fit carry Police go help you comot tenant wey no gree pay nah, for Abroad Police and govt no go allow you comot tenant wey no dey pay.......You cant remove them until they get tired and start paying again or leave your property.....

Choose a Good Heart, Not a Good Face
A beautiful face may attract your eyes, but a good heart will bring peace to your life. Beauty fades with time, but character grows stronger with the years. A good face can make a great first impression, but a good heart leaves a lasting impact.
The world often teaches us to admire appearances, yet the true value of a person is found in how they treat others, how they respond in difficult times, and how they remain kind when no one is watching.
A good heart is patient, loyal, compassionate, and sincere. It stands by you during storms, celebrates your victories, and supports you when you are weak. A good heart speaks words that heal, not words that wound.
When choosing friends, partners, or even people to trust, look beyond what the eyes can see. Faces can be deceiving, but a genuine heart reveals itself through actions.
At the end of the day, people may forget a beautiful face, but they will always remember a beautiful heart.
Choose a good heart, not a good face. One shines for a moment; the other shines for a lifetime.

This na for all the people wey want to marry or date only beautiful people..... Haters go say nah because i no fine..hahahahahahahahahahhaha

WAYS TO BE CAREFUL IN NIGERIA
1) When you board an Okada or when someone gives you a lift, alight some distance away from your house, don't alight in front of your house.
2) Drop a guy's sandal or big shoe at your door. Strangers will assume a man stays with you, so they will think twice before méssing with you.
3) Don't leave food or valuables by the window. Anyone can access your house through the window.
4) When you move into a new apartment, change the locks. You should be the only one with access to your keys. You can even do it before informing the landlord or landlady. Some might not accept it if you tell them first.
5) As a lady, when hiring an electrician, plumber, or carpenter to work at your house, ask a male friend to stay with you. You can introduce him as your friend to avoid giving the impression that you live alone.
6) Set time limit for visitors. Don't allow visitors after a certain time.
7) Don't always use one route when leaving and coming back.
8) As lady, develop basic home repair. Know how to fix somethings in your house. Learn how to change bulb, fix socket issues, sórt your charger. Don't be calling a man for everything. That's how you open your privacy to them.
9) Every guy asking you out doesn't need to know your home address.
10) If the voice sounds strange, don't open the door. Even if you're familiar with the voice, vet first.
11) Don't date a tóxic person or someone with anger issue else the both of you might have a misunderstanding someday, they walk in and húrt you.
12) Avoid posting your house location.
13) Keep your valuables secure from people. Not everyone who visits you should know that you have three phones, laptops and expensive jewelries.
14) Always lock your door even if you want to pick something at the gate. Lock your door.
15) Always count your clothes after washing. When you want to take them down, ensure they're complete. Very important.
16) Don't let your neighbour know you have a washing machine. Everyone might want to use it.
17) Don't accommódate people, they hardly leave.
18) Don't tell everyone you live alone. Some friendships should stay at work place, restaurants or meeting points. Always give the the impression you're staying with your family or elder brother.
19) As soon as you realize your key is lost, change the door lock immediately.
20) As a lady living alone, sometimes get your people to visit. Let the compound know you're not alone. Neighbours respect you more when they see your family around. If nobody ever visits, they will assume you are vulnerable

READ ONLY IF YOU ARE A WOMAN
Every man has a weakness, some is womanizing, some is pride, some is greed, he will never give you money, some men it's quarreling, he can keep malice for years! Some men’s weakness is alcohol, some very unromantic, some might not be good in bed but they are faithful etc
As a wise woman you need to Identify the weakness of your man and over look it if you truly love that man.
Sometimes God will give you a man with a certain kind of weakness for you to be the strength that will help him out of that weakness ...if you leave a man because you lack to identify the weakness, you will never marry because every woman is called to a man with a certain kind of weakness.
This one is bitter truth that social media will not tell you but I am telling you, 99.9 percent of men all over the world including me talking there has a weakness. We deal and struggle with it takes a woman who understand that her calling is not just to be a wife but to understand that the weakness of her man should be her strength.

DeleteMy response to the moving to Portugal question on spontaneous post:
ReplyDeleteAbout whether Portugal is still a good choice, maybe a few years ago I would have said yes without thinking twice. But now, a lot of things have changed, so you really need to think deeply before making that move.
Some factors may make it a plus, and some factors may tell you it is a no-no.
I don’t know what people mean when they keep saying Nigeria is better than Portugal. My family and I thrived in Portugal. We really thrived there. I also have friends in Portugal who are doing very well. They may not be rich like people in the UK or other countries, but they are very okay and achieving things they may not have ordinarily achieved in Nigeria.
Most of my friends in Portugal have already bought houses, mortgage of course, but for you to even afford the down payment shows that, to a very large extent, you are doing well. So I am not going to write Portugal off.
But I also have to tell you the truth. Since this immigration issue that the US started, many countries have started following the same direction. Portugal too has been clamping down on immigrants and making life a little harder. And because there are now a lot of immigrants, jobs have become really scarce, especially if you do not speak the language.
When my brother, the one who recently moved to the UK, first started his japa plans, the plan was actually for him to go to Portugal because we already knew the ins and outs. But even getting appointments and legalizing documents in Nigeria was almost impossible. After about three months, he said no, he would rather try something else. That was when we started looking into the UK.
So if you have other options, I would suggest you consider them. But that does not mean Portugal is bad, especially if you are going through a legal route. I know people who got jobs from Nigeria and moved to Portugal, especially people in tech.
I don’t know what your line of travel is, but what I will 100% tell you not to do is to travel illegally. Do not get a visit visa and then refuse to leave after your visa expires. That is one thing I will never advise, because you will suffer, my dear. You will suffer. I am not joking.
I have a friend who did it. Things are beginning to normalize a little for them now, but for the first two to almost three years, she and her husband really went through hell. So it is not something I would advise anyone to do.
If you are going through the school route, yes, you may consider it. But you also need to think about how easy it will be to get a job, because from the best of my knowledge and from what I have been told, there is serious job scarcity. And not speaking the language is also a big factor.
Most people use Portugal as a stepping stone. This may not be something people say publicly, but I want to give you the clear message. A lot of people who went to Portugal back then did not go because they wanted Portugal to be their final destination. It was because getting citizenship was easier. After five years, you could apply. And for us, if you were married to a Portuguese citizen, you could apply after three years of marriage.
So many people used Portugal as a stepping stone. Like my husband, as soon as he got his papers and became a citizen, the next move was to start looking for a job in Switzerland. It became a lot easier for him, and then he moved. A lot of people do the same. After getting their papers in Portugal, some move to Germany or other better countries.
Contd below
Continuation…..
ReplyDeleteSomeone said Nigeria is better than Portugal. My sister, if you are not doing well in Nigeria, there is nothing that will make me believe Nigeria is better than Portugal. Except you are already living fine and doing well for yourself, then maybe. But if you were like me, who left as a struggling teacher, there is no way Nigeria is better than Portugal.
But one thing is sure: you need to travel legally. You need to have your legal documents and be ready to hustle.
I did customer care work in Portugal. I don’t know how easy it is to get those jobs now, but I know that if you speak English, there are customer care jobs and other departments where English speakers can work. There are things you can do, but like I said, you need to think it through. Do not travel illegally.
And yes, I mentioned that people use Portugal as a stepping stone. But that was then, when you could apply for citizenship after five years. Now, there is a law that has been passed that says you can only apply after ten years. So you can see how that may become a hindering factor if that is your motive.
But if you think you can keep your head down and work for ten years just to get your papers, then it is not a bad thing.
I will never discourage anyone who wants to travel from Nigeria to Portugal. Portugal was a very big stepping stone for us. We thrived in Portugal. And if we could thrive, I believe anyone can thrive too.
We thrived, and our friends who are still there are also thriving, even though some of them are still waiting for their own next move to other places.
So Portugal is not a bad option, but you really need to think about what you are hoping to achieve before making the move.
Thank you eka for breaking it down...we learn everyday..
DeleteMay God continue to prosper you and your entire household
Very insightful 👌👌
DeleteI love how you explained it very well to the anon. We learn everyday.
Thank you, Eka! That was very insightful and exactly the kind of information I was looking for. I think it’s always better to get information from someone with the lived experience.
DeleteI’m not looking to move for money. I already work remotely and could potentially move as a digital nomad although I haven’t explored how that can work with kids. My main motive is giving my kids a taste of a sane environment. We’re doing well in Nigeria, but it’s like a living in a bubble because most of the rest of the country is a mess and one can’t protect them forever.
The ideal situation would be to get them another citizenship and then we can even move back to Nigeria because like I said, we’re doing well. I know no country is perfect and I don’t want to move from frying pan to fire, don’t want to move my kids into any racism struggle or any environment where they lose their sense of who they are and confidence in who they are. So trying to be careful. It’s more about the standard and quality of life one can get. To experience life without the typical Nigerianness of always trying to one up other people or systems almost never working as they should.
To be fair, personally, I can’t say I experienced racism or that my husband did. I also have no friend that complained of racism.
DeleteNow let’s say you work remotely and earn well in dollars, Portugal may just be the right place for you because compared to other European countries, their cost of living is relatively low. And yea, they pretty have an organized system too as opposed to Nigeria.
Crime rate is also pretty low.
I did experience some form of racism in the hospital tho in the sense that most were not willing to speak English to me and would rather ignore me than speak.

I saw a comment yesterday where a BV was asking questions about HIV, and someone was asking Stella to stop posting topics about HIV. I am not a carrier but I know someone who is. People like you are the reason why some people don’t open up about the situations they are going through.
ReplyDeleteFor ur information HIV is not the worst sickness. No dear is not!
Have you heard of LUPUS before?
Lupus is a serious and complicated disease. It's not contagious, it's a disease where your immune system which is supposed to protect your body attacks your own body. It can affect your skin, kidneys, lungs, joints, brain, and blood cells. The exact cause is unknown, but factors like genetics, hormones, certain medications, and the environment can trigger lupus.
Lupus can be a silent killer, and the worst part is that you may spend a lot of money managing it. Your family members or loved ones can also become stressed while taking care of you.
Lupus can drain a person’s strength and resources faster than many people realize.
Pray for good health but also do not discriminate against people living with any form of sickness. Show love, support, and understanding.
Some write from a place of healing too and also to learn from others...it's well with every one of us 🙏
DeletePls keep editing with AI and write well like this 👍
DeleteThat lupus is something else.
DeleteThat Hepatitis B , I had to to go Google all about it, omo, I was so scared
I wish we can have more enlightenment on various illnesses like that. We would be more careful I'm our relations.
Note that the Hepatitis is not only transmitted through gbenshing, a sibling can even gift another sibling unknowingly.

ReplyDeleteThe tips about ways to be careful in Nigeria are on point except for two of them.
"2) Drop a guy's sandal or big shoe at your door. Strangers will assume a man stays with you, so they will think twice before méssing with you."
You think criminals just enter andattack? They do their research and investigate before attack. They must have studies you and your house to know the occupant's, of you out male shoes at the door, you are deceiving yourself.
"16) Don't let your neighbour know you have a washing machine. Everyone might want to use it."
The same washing machine that makes so much noise that they hear in the next compound, especially while spinning?
It's like telling me not to let my neighbors know that I have an electric blender 🤣
See gbagauns eh!
DeleteThey must have studied you and your house to know the occupants, if you put male shoes....
You have show face today 🤣😁😆

DeleteHello sis 💕

I did these years ago as a student abroad. My friends parents in Nigeria could not keep so I had to help out with feeding, school fees , and letting them leave with me . Different friends at different times from my first year till my third year, but till today I am the bad one.

Saul called David 'dog" God reminded and showed him who the dog is. The most important of all of creation is human beings. Be very careful how you treat people 'BENEATH YOU', it always backfires especially when you have a very consistent pattern hiding in the comfort of your 'defence'. Both the 'king' and dog are only playing a script by the Creator.
