D’Tigress Players Receive Naira Equivalent Of $100,000 Presidential Reward
Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have received the cash component of President Bola Tinubu’s reward for winning the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket.
The National Sports Commission (NSC) confirmed that each player has been credited with the naira equivalent of $100,000 which is approximately ₦150 million at the current official rate while team officials received $50,000, which comes to about ₦75 million each.
The payments were made on September 9, 2026, and both players and officials confirmed that their accounts had been credited.
D’Tigress made history by winning their fifth consecutive Afrobasket title and seventh overall in 2025, cementing their dominance as Africa’s most successful women’s basketball team.
