Oyelu, 25, had been on the run since 2021 after members of his gang were arrested following a kidnapping operation in which the victim died.
According to the police, he was arrested in the early hours of September 23, 2026, after years of intelligence gathering and investigation.
The police said Oyelu was the last identified member of the gang allegedly led by a suspect known as Pincode. He is expected to be taken to the Correctional Centre for further legal proceedings.

The Benue State Police Command said the Chief Medical Director of Multicare Hospital, Makurdi, Dr Jonah Ogbaji, was arrested by operatives of the Force Headquarters in Abuja. The National Examinations Council has released the results of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE, internal, with 804,948 candidates, representing 58.67 per cent, obtaining five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics. The results were released 63 days after the last examination paper was written.

The Naira extended its depreciation against the US dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Thursday. Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, data showed that the Naira further weakened to N1,328.67 against the dollar on Thursday, from N1,328.50 on Wednesday.

The Lagos State Command of the NSCDC has shut down an unregistered juice factory in Aradagun, Badagry, and arrested two women linked to the operation.
Operatives raided the site on 19 September 2026 after public tip‑offs and five days of surveillance. Some youths tried to resist, so officers worked with a nearby Nigerian Army unit.
The factory produced Barkas Juice with a fake NAFDAC number (01‑2166L). According to NSCDC, the drink contained water, excessive sugar, synthetic flavourings, industrial sweeteners, artificial colourants, dyes and chemical preservatives — with no real fruit. Production was done in dirty conditions, using contaminated well water and an unclean storage tank.
Two women, aged 48 and 50, were arrested, while 15‑ and 16‑year‑old juveniles found working at the site were rescued. Officers recovered cartons of the drink, a loaded truck, production machines, chemicals, drums, a gas cylinder and product labels.
The fake juice was being distributed to markets in Lagos, Benin City, and other parts of Nigeria. NSCDC officials described the operation as a serious public health risk.
One suspect said the business started nearly 20 years ago with her grandmother and claimed they were trying to renew NAFDAC registration.
The factory has been closed, and investigations continue. The suspects are expected to face court charges.
