Justice Aishetu Mohammed of High Court No. 4 delivered the judgment on Wednesday, convicting Afekafe on two counts of armed robbery and culpable homicide, offences punishable under Sections 221 and 298 of the Penal Code.
Adefolalu was brutally murdered on October 28, 2023, just 26 days after Afekafe resumed work as a housemaid in her home in Gbaiko, Minna.
According to court findings, the teenager conspired with two accomplices identified as DJ Wallex and DJ Smart, who are still at large to attack and kill the lecturer after she was dismissed from her position for stealing.
Delivering the judgment, Justice Mohammed ruled that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt. “The death of Dr. Mrs. Funmilayo Sherifat Adefolalu was caused by the convict with her friends, now at large, when they used knives to stab her several times and eventually hit her with a wooden stool to kill her,” the judge stated.
The convict, who was introduced to the household by a local pastor, confessed during interrogation that she plotted revenge after being fired.
She and her accomplices entered the home, attacked the lecturer with knives, and used a wooden stool to deliver the fatal blow. They also stole two phones, a laptop, and foreign currencies from the residence.
Justice Mohammed handed down the life sentence after a two-hour ruling, bringing to a close one of the state’s most shocking homicide cases in recent years.

There’s nothing more enchanting than freedom - but now, she’s about to lose it, and maybe then, she’ll understand its worth.
ReplyDeleteFrom time immemorial, one truth has remained: crime never pays.
A few may seem lucky, yes. But that never changes the destination - a road that leads nowhere but ruin. It strips you of everything, piece by piece. And when its grip tightens like a noose, only the mercy of God can offer a flicker of hope.
wickedness is too much in this world.

ReplyDeleteWhat A Wicked Young Heart..
Hello iya Boys
Some young people fall so far off track, due to upbringing, peer influence, trauma, or even sheer wickedness, that they end up making life destroying decisions for themselves and others.
ReplyDeleteThe justice system typically considers both the gravity of the offense and the offender's age and intent, but when a crime is premeditated and severe, the consequences are equally serious even for minors or young adults.
A death sentence could be given in the most extreme cases, though it's often controversial when applied to young people.
If commuted to life imprisonment, they may still spend decades behind bars.
A pardon or early release for good behavior is possible, but usually only after many years and under exceptional circumstances, often needing executive clemency from a governor or president.
Any governor should be stupid to grant clemency in this kind of case. Let her remain there and contribute to society from a safe distance.
DeleteI hope the criminal DJs are caught and treated the same.

Bringing someone into your home and opening up your life to them is a risky venture, riskier venture if you live alone.
ReplyDeleteIt starts long ago for unfortunate husbands.
ReplyDeleteIf she had escaped, we would have heard:
"I pad school fees because he is stingy"
"I drug him to steal from his car after he started hiding the money there"

"My in-laws are falsely accusing me, my hands are clean of my husband's D..)
Some men were and are just unfortunate.
Wickedness only has a gender on blogs.
In real life, it is gender neutral.
Thank God they didn't say she's a minor, very wicked soul at her age, that jail is where she belongs, she will rot there.
