Massive Building Collapses At Alakija In Lagos

A massive building has collapsed at Alakija, along the Badagry Expressway in Lagos, leaving at least eight people confirmed dead as rescue workers continue digging through the rubble.


The incident happened on Thursday, June 25, 2026, near the Alakija bus stop.
Stella Dimoko Korkus sources say the structure was packed with people including children when it suddenly gave way.

Emergency teams are still on site searching for survivors as fears grow that more victims may be trapped underneath the debris.
Updates will follow as rescue efforts continue.

    1. We have to help ourselves by not using substandard materials to build, many builders cut corners because they want to reduce cost, forgetting the negative effects it will have on the building and people n the future.

  7. This should be taken seriously serious.

    Iron rod(no matter the size, either 12mm or more) has a particular year of strength and once it exceed the year, it will always give signals but house owners and agent look away as if it's nothing serious.

    Again, when you reconstruct an old building having just 4 flats to having 4flata and extra 4/ room and a parlour self contained. Builders should know that, it will become an extra weight on the already tired iron used for bims and pillars. So you need more reinforcement but they won't do it because of stealing into their own pocket

  9. Again, you all will noticed one nasty behavior from recent builders now. They always use one bad of cement to lay 90blovks and they expect such building to last long. In this era wey cement swf no be original again
