    9. In as much a jp shouldnt make jokes about someone's late parent, Stella you should know that this woman is a mother too and she has children that should also be proud of her the way you are proud of your mom. Why do you always make jokes about this woman and her husband? They have people that are close to them, and these individuals will feel bad each time you make jokes about the same people they hold in high esteem. That they are in power doesnt make them less humans. Yes she cried, most mothers would in a situation like that. Yes she cant speak good english, most people cant speak good english as well. Let me ask, did u understand what she said? If your answer is yes, then let her be. English is not our mother tongue ok, dont blame her, but even if u want to blame her feel free. Her english will never make her to stop being the first lady. Stella, if u are feeling bad about what d guy said abt your mom, then how do u think the first lady's immediate family members will feel each time u mock GEJ and his wife??? Do to others those things you wish them to do unto you. ( the golden rule)

    18. Didn't want to comment but I realize I have to. @ I.K and Anony 5:29 please tell me when will Nigerians stop condoning mediocrity? Please tell because I can't comprehend that a First Lady no matter for which country will spoke so poorly. Its incomprehensible!! Dame Patience is considered learned and therefore should step up especially with the opportunities she's got. We have adult education and in her case we should consider self development. Chantal Biya, Cameroon's First Lady was not as educated as I guess Dame Patience is, the former was a call girl who during one of the evening entertainment at a gala caught Paul Biya's eye. She was taken and for a year she didn't speak publicly, what was being done? She was being trained. She was as headstrong as a mule but state protocol services wouldn't let her till they felt she had attained a certain niveau(level) before she was allowed to make public speeches. In all what am I saying, Dame Patience should go for some self development and state protocol should step up in their activities. Look at the blasts she receives on FACEBOOK, if it really bothered her relations who care and are not interested in siphoning wealth from her, they will call her and advise her to improve her speech skills.
      I rest my case

Its pple like you that hv alloWed her to remain stagnant over 2 decades of being under d corridor of poWer. 7. In as much as we all know that patience is a semi-illiterate her intentions were genuine. But Stella you choose to join the bandwagon of youths that ridicule our First Lady on the internet. Calling her names and posting funny posts won't change that, most of our mothers don't speak better. Her inability to express herself in English is due to the fact that she didn't have access to good education which is not a crime. In as much as we don't like this government making her a point of ridicule is not nice!

    2. Thank u my bros/sis. How many of our mothers can really speak good english? Is it mama peace's fault that she has no access to good education? Why make fun of her this way and yet we give advice to girls who ask if they should marry an illiterate to go ahead and marry the person. Yet,we are the same ones that wil laugh at the bad english. How many of us wil be happy if someone laughed at our mothers for speaking bad english?? This is not so nice. We all have mothers. What u don't want others to say/do to ur own mum, don't do it to someone else's mum.

    8. All these anons saying that Patience should be excused for not speaking good English because English is borrowed and she's a mother are the major reason why Nigeria will never move forward . I guess you have never heard of the word "protocol"? Goodness, how can a 1st Lady conduct herself on national TV in that manner? No wonder other nations make fun of us. She should have gone to a finishing sch to learn how to speak properly. Let's not be sentimental about this. If my mother is illiterate, would she be allowed to represent a company at board meetings?!! Come on pple, let's wake up and smell the coffee. We are so backwards, even Ghana has left us behind!

    10. Chief Mrs D, trust me I understand Spanish sef. Saying 'Most of our mothers'.. is a sheer lazy attempt to justify madame first lady's ambiguity as per her educational standard ..and I resent the overall near statistic on behalf of every Nigerian who enjoyed free education under our leaders past. What nonsense?
Didn't she just get a honorary recognition recently as the whatever of an institution? I also learned she was a lecturer? And some people are here insulting those laughing at our collective shame? Should we be crying for her crass display of her low intellectual capacity, which was both comical and disastrous at the same time? All the other so called mothers who are not educated respected themselves and didn't try to embarrass their households in public I presume. And that is y we haven't heard of them.

Are Dezeani and Iweala not women like her? We know educated women when we see one biko. Stella obj of blessed memories wasn't super intelligent or a phd holder herself, but dang she kept it simple. Even at that Nigerians still mocked her for her excessive makeup and bogus attires. A price u have to pay as the first lady. So what's the force about patience Jonathan who commits not only English blunders, but moral and official protocol blunders as well. There are some things beyond speaking English my people. This woman's overall composure in public is zero.
Insult all u want but we are all Nigerians and we have the bloody right to criticise as we deem fit. We won't be the gademn first to criticise. And for ur info, it is comic relief as this ones that keep the tension off our heads. Otherwise the chaos in Nigeria is enough to cause us daily grief. I rest my case on the matter

  19. I'm really disappointed to see that Nigerians, as usual, have proved themselves to be myopic and shallow-minded.
Granted, Patience is not intellectually sound- but we didn't just begin to know that- we've known this for as long as she's been first lady.
I cried when I saw that video because what I saw was a woman who was totally overwhelmed with the state of carnage and bloodshed in the country.
What ii saw was a woman who was heartbroken and in distraught and who totally let it all out, however crude or unrefined it might have sounded, because she didn't know how to express herself better.
She knows her husband is incompetent, but also feels the odds against him are almost impossible for him alone to bear.
    Why make fun of her?
    Seriously, Why?
    To what end?
Anyone who saw that video and couldn't relate to all of the emotions expressed is quite heartless.
Add it for Saturday laughs na, you hear?
    More power to your elbows.

If her husband is not competent like he sounds pls he should resign and stop SHARING innocent blood. Boko haram is this bold because Jonathan is absolutely clueless on the issues of governance. Do Nigeria a favour and step down, and he wants to rerun! Don't forget he was partying and campaigning when this abduction happened. I don't care about Patience or her husband and scared about the future on Nigeria, scared my kids won't have a Nigeria to call their home.

She cannot express herself well in English, is that a reason why she should be mocked and insulted all the time? If your mothers were to speak like her, would you mock them or condone people mocking them?

It is "just a joke" when the joke isn't on you. Please flip the script and see if you'd be cursing half as you are doing right now.

If you can't respect the fact that she is the wife of your President and the First Lady of your country, you can at least respect the fact that she is someone's mother or even respect her as one human being to another. Is that such a tall order?

If her husband respected that post, he would have enrolled her in an adult school or have someone come to teach her at home.

Let us stop finding excuses for these people. it is a big shame for our first lady to talk like that in a country where our official language is English.

I have seen chinese people who moved to US and Canada and they learnt to speak good English in 6 months - 1 year.

The sooner we start to condemn mediocrity from our leaders the faster our country would get better.

What was the point of that meeting because no message was passed accross. Ask yourself, if you speak that type of English in a mere interview will you be employed? It is never too late to learn.

When I watched that video I saw comedy, I could not believe that anyone, especially her, ould speak like that of such a tragic event, and the fake tears, really. That is beneath even her. That meeting coming 3 weeks after the girls went missing and she still managed to show how clueless she, her husband and the government they command are. Such a shame. So you all can rest because the world will not stop laughing at a first lady who chooses to embarass her country. We are used to her poor command of english, but in this one case, she could have done better to at least show us and the international community that she is more than a local overweight woman who was lucky enough to stick around long enough with a shoeless man who became president of the most popular black nation purely based on the superstitious beliefs of nigerians.

We are stressed, frustrated and tensed and the only way to survive is to laugh. PEG, should know better than embarrassing us in public. She is a university graduate and a permanent secretary.....meaning, she is schooled. If english is an ish for her, she could have spoken in Ijaw or Pidgin and get an interpreter. Also, what happened to wrting speeches for the individual? Must she talk? If we could laugh at Oga at the top, i wonder why we should cry at this. All of una wey dey support mama Peace, make una go boil stone because she go ask for una bank details na better armed robber motto una enter so. Stella no mind them, anybody wey curse you, their mama go enter Uselu market and no go come back. #Jesus Baby#

  71. Abegii, people make una c truth make una tok, "blood you are sharing". Really? My mama no go school but my mama know the difference between sharing and shedding... haba.. it is quite laughable that we have a stark and utter illiterate as the first lady..The position of the first lady is a coveted position and it should be held by highly esteemed people, we are teaching our young ones that "don't go to school, you can still become first ladies" no that's not what we should let our children emulate. Let's be real, Patient Jonathan does not and should not be occupying the presidential seat. All sentiments aside. We are a country, compare, patience and michelle Obama, put them for room, wetin dem wan tok. Abegi, make una carry go... the woman is a complete embarassment to Nigeria as a country..."shearing tears". Like really? Education is never too late, all the while when she dey Aso Rock, why she no improve herself go school, come come in front of millions all over the world dey shell anywhow. So she no know the difference between Shed and share? Abegii. make she gerrout jaare. Disgrace... na by force to tok. if English no gree you speak, speak pidgin. It is a recognised language all over nigeria. Stop disgracing yourself biko.
