News On Tuesday - All Garbed Up Like These Young Men

AHEAD of the 2015 general elections in the country, over 1000 Bishops and Pastors from the Pentecostal fold on Sunday stormed the Ecumenical Center Abuja to reconcile President Goodluck Jonathan and former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
THE Clerics who came from different parts of the country arrived late on Saturday while some of them from Imo State arrived early hours of Sunday and slept at the park as there were no officials of the organizers of the program.
But it was gathered that because of the absence of President Goodluck Jonathan who was away to Germany on a national official duty and that of the former President Obasanjo who was said to have been represented by his pastor the reconciliation prayer meeting could not precede.

LAGOS State government, on Sunday, debunked insinuations, especially in the social media, of a plan to review the state’s Road Traffic Law 2012, as it concerns operations of commercial motorcycles (okada), saying it has no intention of reversing itself on the matter, as the law was made in response to popular public demand.
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Lateef Raji, the government emphasised that it had no plan, either now on in the near future, to reverse itself on the matter of okada operation in the state, pointing out that by that decision, considerable gains had been made in the area of protection of lives and property in the state.

Former presidential candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has explained why he abandoned his presidential ambition to contest the governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Adamawa State governorship poll.
Ribadu, who spoke with journalists after he submitted his nomination form at the national headquarters of the PDP in Abuja on Monday, said that his desire to serve at any level propelled him to drop his initial ambition.

Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, on Monday said that he would not apologise to former members of the All Progressives Congress in the state who defected to an opposition party.
Oshiomhole, who made this known at the presentation of staff of office to Alhaji Jackson Etokhana as the Oghieavhianwu of Avhianwu, stated that he “will never share the state’s resources, meant for developing the state, to them.”

NO fewer than 480 Nigerian soldiers have fled into Cameroon following fierce fighting with Boko Haram insurgents.
The Cameroonian Army Spokesman, Lt Col Didier Badjek, who confirmed this, said the troops had already been disarmed.
But   the Director of Defence Information, Maj. -Gen Chris Olukolade, said the   soldiers merely strayed into Cameroon and therefore were not “deserters.”
Badjek told the British Broadcasting Corporation on Monday that the disarmed Nigerian soldiers   were   being accommodated in schools in Maroua, about 80 kilometres   from the Nigerian border.
The BBC which added that there were clashes in the border town of Gamboru Ngala, said that thousands of civilians also fled to Cameroon.

Fresh hope appears in the horizon for Ebola   patients as Japan on Monday expressed its readiness to provide its anti-influenza drug as treatment for the deadly virus.
Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary, Yoshihide Suga, made the offer hours after a group of scientist in the United Kingdom said it had discovered that the largest outbreak of the   Ebola Virus Disease was caused by an infected fruit bat that bit a toddler.
Briefing   journalists in Tokyo on Monday, Suga said Japan   was ready to offer the drug, Favipiravir, which was developed by Toyama Chemical, a subsidiary of Fujifilm, any time   the World Health Organisation requested it.
Approved by the Japanese health ministry in March, Favipiravir is a tablet developed   for the treatment of novel and re-emerging influenza viruses.

The Lagos Division of the National Industrial Court on Monday gave an order restraining the Federal Government and his agents from sacking about 16,000 suspended resident doctors.
The president of the court, Justice Babatunde Adejumo, ordered all the Chief Medical Directors in the 37 medical institutions across the nation to hold action on the directive given by the Federal Government to dismiss the resident doctors.
The Federal Government had in a letter dated August 13, 2014 directed that the Residency Training Programme for doctors be suspended.
The resident doctors on August 18, 2014 filed a Motion on Notice seeking a court’s order restraining the Federal Government and its agents from scrapping the programme and terminating their appointment.

The naira dropped against the dollar on Monday, with last week’s move by JP Morgan to include the country’s 10-year bond in one of its indexes failing to stimulate strong dollar inflows.
The local currency closed at N162.07 to the dollar, compared with Friday’s close of N161.98, the same level it closed on Thursday prior to JP Morgan’s announcement.
The 2024 bond is due to be added to JP Morgan’s Government Bond Index-Emerging Markets on August 29, in addition to five other bonds already listed, potentially triggering more offshore interest.
But dealers said local bond trading was muted on Monday due to a holiday in Britain, where a number of foreign investors who trade Nigerian debt are based. Yields on the 2024 bond climbed to 11.99 per cent, as against 11.92 per cent on Friday.
Citibank said in a note it expected the naira to get support from potential oil company dollar sales and foreign portfolio inflows this week.
The local unit of Italian oil firm Eni sold $12m on Monday, to start the month-end dollar sales

No fewer than 17 people were killed on Sunday night during a clash between suspected Eggon youths and their Fulani counterparts in   Alingani   Fadaman Bauna, Lafia East Council Development Area of Nasarawa State.

A middle-aged man, Samsideen Akinwunmi, has reportedly committed suicide in Abeokuta after being duped by his concubine.
Akinwunmi, a carpenter, was said to have been found dead after allegedly hanging himself on a  ceiling fan in his room located at Aboaba Street, Itori-Odo, Abeokuta.
A source told Vanguard that the incident occurred on Saturday.
The source further said that he saw Akinwunmi at about 2:45 pm on Saturday when he sent all his children on errand before killing himself.
According to the source, the deceased  left a suicide note  which  explained why he killed himself.
“He indicated that his estranged lover had duped him of millions of Naira and that he had to kill himself.
Reacting to the incident, a community leader and Alapinni of Egbaland, Chief Omolaso Ojedele, saidit was a tragedy.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state,  Muyiwa Adejobi, could not be reached for reaction. It was, however, gathered that the Police had taken the corpse away.

Officers of the Benue State Police Command on stop and search duty, at the early hours of yesterday, arrested a middle aged man, Salondo Viashima, in Makurdi, the state capital, with an AK-47 rifle and nine rounds of live ammunition.
Briefing journalists on the arrest, Acting Commissioner of Police in the state, Femi Oyeleye, said the suspect was arrested on the ever-busy Makurdi-Lafia road.
Represented by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Superintendent, SP, Daniel Ezeala, he said: “At the early hours of yesterday, Police officers on stop and search duty along the Makurdi-Lafia road spotted an ash coloured Toyota Camry with registration number LSD 941 AA bearing green leaves on its bonnet.
He said: “The car which was heading towards Makurdi main town with three male occupants was stopped for routine checks, and when the driver was questioned he said they were going for a burial ceremony.”

Analysts at FBN Capital Limited have bemoaned the negative correlation between Nigeria’s oil output and economic development, saying the oil sector has contributed negatively to the growth of the Nigerian economy.

They also dismissed hopes for any improvement, saying, “Given the seeming indifference of the executive and legislature to these constraints, we do not assume a recovery in the sector ahead of the elections.”
The analysts in their Economic Report for June 2014, stated that the oil sector share of the country’s Gross Domestic Product, GDP, contracted by an average of 0.8 per cent year-on-year, in the past eight quarters.

This, they said, is in contrast to the telecommunications and post, building and construction, hotels and restaurants, solid minerals, and real estate, which achieved double-digit growth in third quarter 2013.

With all my love, I dedicate my Dp to you. U shld bask in euphoria, as I am a very impt personality #Hehehe! On a more serious note I tink I av given u enuf attention n so its time to call it off. Wld make dis as brief, strait to the point and civil, as much as I can.

1stly, I neva paid u much attention, honestly not until som1 on my BBM made mention of ur name wit ur nasty attitude. I find ur attitude nauseating, and it got worse wen I knew u were a parent. U seem to enjoy calling ppl out, u love conflict, and I bet u get an orgasm frm ruining ppl's special day. U give the aura of som1 who is unforgiving and very vengeful. I tried checking up on ur previous comment, oboi! I must commend ur painstaking effort in dragging ppls dirt out, 1st u attach dia user I'd's and den u pick each post topic, and agen u av to read thru all d comment, oboi! I hope u put dis much effort in2 ur paid job? Believe me if I say, its heartbreakin to see ppl wu u tink are intelligent hail u(una no una sef oo).if u called dem out a day after dat, I wld av tot ok! Dis guy is quite reasonable, mayb e is giving dis person a 2nd chance.

Nobody on dis blog az any rite' to correct anybody ,not an anony and nt even a known blog I'd owner(wu enters anony to write about dia atrocious adventures) wit an exception to ezewanyi, she is d only 1 I deem fit dat can correct me on dis blog.

Plz let's respect ourselves on dis blog. I wld cuss any body wu uses a foul lang at me, and I wld do so witout any apologizes. If u av the urge to give any 1 moral lessons, u can stat wit ursef, or beta still extend it to ur kids. I sincerely hope our paths do not cross on dis kinda subject agen(mayb on lighter ish).

I honestly apologiz for any typo, dis is too long n am sorry I can't proof read dis. #cheers.

  51. My Take on the soldiers that ran to cameroon. When shall we Nigerians learn from our mistakes?

the problem is that we do have have secrets at all. yes. the soldiers have been found and disarmed....so? must the cameroonian man announce to the whole world where there are presently camping so that these BH guys will do a follow up on them?
let us not forget that these said soldiers are people's fathers, uncles, brothers and so on... As far as am concerned, the soldiers act should not be tagged as "MUTINY" because it wasnt as if they not obeyed the last order but a simple one, that "OUR OGA'S AT THE TOP SHOULD PLEASE EQUIP THEM WELL" thats all they ask and i dont think its too much for them to ask.who wouldnt do same if you were in their shoes?
you are been given sticks, koboko, hand cuff etc to fight guys that are equipped with Rocket Lunchers, KPMG and other assorted machines etc.

all am asking is there should be some sort of secrecy in the tactics being mapped out by these guys.
its sad that its still some soldiers at the toppest top that gives these guys up all in the name of 'OBEY THE LAST ORDER"
