Governor Nasir el-Rufai's End Time Prayer....

Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State believes the oil wealth accruing to the country constitutes a major obstacle to Nigeria’s ability to think and innovate its way out of underdevelopment.

He wishes the oil wells and the ‘free money’ there from dry up so that the government and the people can get serious about making the country realize its full potentials.

We get easy money, we do not collect taxes and our taxes are six per cent of Gross Domestic Product; that is an average of 21per cent. We stop respecting the intellectuals that we have in our universities because we get easy money.

“This is very sad, I wish the oil will dry up so that we can begin to use our brains because we have stopped using our brains and we have stopped respecting intellects because of easy money.

On policing, he said: “It is obvious that Nigeria is severely under-policed, and will require more personnel, intelligence assets, better training, technology and equipment for its security agencies for the country to be a credible guarantor of security

    1. I say Amen to that prayer. The Niger Delta has been devastated by the oil companies with nothing to show for it. Yet Hausa/Fulani 'own' about 80% of the oil wells. Ironically, some Niger Delta bigots are so blinded by their hatred of the Igbos that they prefer to remain slaves of the north than be free in Biafra.

  3. The truth is that, it won't dry up because Biafra communities will be needing them to build. Face your groundnuts, cattle, etc. Imagine! Praying for oil Wells to dry up! Why not pray for Boko Haram to dry up? Why not pray for corruption both in high and low places to dry up? Please face your state , kaduna!

  4. Since the oil wont dry up, why doesn't Nigeria operate a true federal system where each region survives on its own resources? That way the "easy oil money" will only spoil some states in the south, while the North will be "freed" from its evil grasp, and would use their brains to develop their region into a world leader.

  5. Believe me this prayer is borne out of jealousy for Niger delta. How many potentials has he created? Besides the people of the north are exploring all their lands for oil. Why then is he praying it dry up. Stop giving him allocations from oil money pls ooo

Oga, u know he is only making a point, for the country to diversify. That is his only point but see where ur hatred and bigot mind took it to. The Niger deltans themselves, have they enjoyed the money from their oil? Are your own leaders not allowing u suffer in abject decay while they enjoy the free money? Even if the country is separated today, do u think u will automatically start to enjoy this money, when ur leaders are still there? But if u diversify, especially back to farmimg, don't u think ur region would be better off?
It's a simple valid point he made. I don't think he really wants it to dry up. It’s called driving home a point. When Iweala hammered on this a while back, I doubt if anyone misquoted her like this.
Nigerians remain the source of their problems. Hateful. Selfish. Dumb Af!

    2. This your long epistle does not change the fact that Elrufai is a hateful bigot and a tribalist.

    3. @Lily Rose, the only point that El Rufai should be driving home is true Federal System or total separation. Truth be told, if Niger Delta oil Money went to Niger Delta states only, they can buy in any diversification they need. Alternatively, they can squander it till it dries up. Either way, it's their money and their problem. It is not your place to lecture them about holding their leaders accountable. You should concentrate on making your own leaders use brains to turn your region into world leaders because as far as I'm concerned its only Lagos state, which is almost entirely powered by wealth from oil, that is hanging in well.
