Score Card Of LAGOS Teachers Who Took Professional Examination

51 teachers failed the Professional Qualifying Examination conducted by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria in Lagos State.

Mr Gbolahan Enilolobo, the state coordinator of the council, said on Monday in Lagos, that 412 teachers sat for the maiden edition of the examination.

According to NAN, TRCN had on October 14 conducted the examination for the teachers, through Computer Based Test.
The examination was to qualify the successful teachers to register as professionals and be licensed with the council.

According to Enilolobo, the failure of the teachers is due to their inability to use the computer; especially as it the first time they are using CBT for the examination. About three of the teachers exited without even completing the examination, indicating their being unfamiliar with the system at all. Those that failed will have to re-sit the examination. But if failure occurs consecutively for three times, it means automatic disqualification, and such teacher cannot be licensed.

Giving statistics of the teachers in attendance, Enilolobo said, nine teachers out of 30 the master’s degree holders that sat for the examination failed; 257 out of the 282 first degree holder passed, while 82 passed out of the 99 NCE holders. While the only Ph.D teacher also passed the examination.

  1. Stella we have good teachers in Lagos state.
Better than many other states. The quality of schools in Lagos and Abuja are also different. But Lagos tops it. I'm not surprised.

  5. Please o! I don't know if my math has gone bad because, summing up the participants as articulated in the different levels of qualification I got 411 participants not 412.
Please does this mean that the missing one is the invigilator or does the coordinator need to undergo the same competence test?

Just a question seeking for clarification!!!

  8. Compared to Kaduna State result, this is an impressive result however, let us stop celebrating mediocrity in Nigeria. How can 12.41% of teachers fail professional exam and we are celebrating that they have done wonderfully well.
The most disturbing fact is that part of this 12.41% are masters holders!!!
On the flip side, the ones that passed, how well did they do?

It is clear that we as a nation need to seat up and salvage our educational system, the teachers have to undergo training and retraining to bring them up to speed with their counterparts elsewhere in the world.

  9. Its very easy for the Governor to day anything anout the teachers.

Do u no how fg sponsored trainings he has been exposed to that made him like this.

If i even set exam for him , he wkll fail it too.

The solution isnt to sack them, its to embark on aggressive capability upgrades in the best places.
