Musician Mr Eazi Explains Why He Does Not Own A Car...

This might come as a shock to many lovers of Mr Eazi but the Leg Over singer revealed that he does not own a car .

In his explanation , he stated that he preferred using Uber . He further said , “ If your self - esteem is based on how much you have in your bank account , then you have a serious self - esteem issue. Right from when I sang my very first song , someone offered me N 80 m record deal but I turned it down and at the time , I did not have N 300 , 000 in my account .

“ My first record deal offer from the UK was £ 356 , 000 , I turned it down but at the time , I had done a tour and the total amount I earned was £ 12 , 500 . I used the money to shoot the videos of some of my songs . I was left with £ 20 ; they were offering me £ 365 , 000 , but I turned it down . The reason I did that was because my value was not dependent on what was in my account .

“ Till today , I use Uber but I do not care and by the way, I don’ t even pay for the ride because I was given Uber credit . But if you see me in the Uber vehicle and feel that Mr Eazi is poor , what is my business ( with that )? For instance , everybody around me has cars, and besides , I buy cars for people . If it makes sense for me to use an Uber , why should I drive ? Why would I pay about N 100 m for a car that I would probably drive just five times a year ?

“ There are better things to do with that money . In the short time I have spent on earth, I have made a lot of money . While I was into mining , I had so much money that I was living at a place that was a stone ’ s throw away from the airport in Accra and I was paying my rent in dollars.

“ I was making a lot of money . That shows you how expensive it was but I went from there to squatting with my friend in a one - room apartment . I was sleeping on the floor in his room . Also , when I was doing the business of selling beverages , we started with a crate and in a short while , we began to import four containers every two weeks . From importing four containers every two weeks , we went back to nothing .

In my life , I have had ups and down . If my self - worth was based on material things , I would have killed myself . ”
The singer admitted that he had received a lot of backlash on social media simply because of his relationship with Temi, one of the daughters of a billionaire oil magnate , Femi Otedola.

However , Mr Eazi said such things would never faze him .

“ People can say what they want to say and if you want to let everything they say about you bother you , then you are not going to live, especially when you are in the public eye .

“ You have to realise that as an entertainer , your life becomes a form of entertainment to others. I really do not care about what anybody thinks . He that is in me is greater than he that is in the world , so why care about what the world is saying ?” The singer said .

  4. I like this boy and I never thought I would say so. Like him I chose not to buy a car but I use public transport or a car service depending on where I am going and whom I am meeting. In this country even our MPs and the very rich take the tube. I live very central and it does not make sense to waste my money on buying a car, parking fees, insurance, annual MOT, congestion charges etc. I get someone to drive me and I can either read reports, nap, think or make business calls with my time.

    1. Smart in a decent civilised country!

But in a jungle like Nigerian where in business ad otherwise you are judged by your looks and how much you have, you can't do that.

Abi will you be jumping danfo or taking BRT bus to your meetings???

  6. Oga abeg go and wash your head or go for MFM deliverance. Which one is this pattern of rich today, poor tomorrow history following your life?
Mr Otedola won't give you his daughter if he isnt certain of your future oh..i doubt he will want is daughter to end with someone that will sleep n one room in d future.
I understand up and down in business but not continuously.. Its either its spiritual or you aren't aking good business decisions which still boils down to the spiritual attack.
    Its not normal abeg.
Paying rent in dollars then back to squatting importing four containers of beverages twice a month then back to nothing.
Unless say na yarn you dey yarn us sha...how old are you btw that you have done mining, importing, singing, other hustle wey we nor know of?

Na yarn you dey yarn abeg. If you dont want to buy a car, good for you. Leave those that want to buy. You must not buy 100m car, 3million is okay. Its not compulsory sef.

    3. Stop insulting people with your business IDs, you people won't listen. You can disagree with someone without adding insults. How will I now patronize you when I know you plan events with insults. Get another ID or go anonymous when you want to misbehave. Don't use your business ID to insult somebody because of Eazi that does not know you exist.

  8. I like Mr Eazi and his way of life, but pls I see car as a necessity and not a luxury. I'm not saying buy a range or buy a bugatti but having a simple Toyota or Honda as a stand by car isn't bad. You may not even drive it daily.
What happens if there is an emergency and for whatever reason your uber app is messing up. Iv been ill and had to be driven to hospital at 3am before.
Or an urgent meeting pops up,you start waiting for uber. When I can put in my keys and off I go.
I know he's trying to seem organic and down to earth, but I find this somehow I'm sorry.
PS; Abeg na my opinion. You can have yours.

    1. Tankio! That's how he was lying about getting 6m monthly abi na yearly in PH. Nairaland guys burst him bubble one time. They identified the overall he wore in the photo as junior staff uniform in the said company and that there was no way he was paid even half of that. Eazi can lie! Temi Otedola, shine your eye o. Stop allowing him to borrow your cars so that he can go and buy his own. Even the uber sef, he no dey pay for ride. Free loader.

  15. Crap talk.
A car doesn't have to be 100million. If he didn't have Uber credit, would going everywhere with Uber be a wise financial decision?
Depending on where you live, a car can actually be a necessity.
And turning down a recording deal of over 300k pounds just because your value isn't depending on your account sounds silly to me. Except there was another, better reason.
He wanted to sound like he had some depth in him but ended up coming across as silly.

    1. In Nigeria car is even cheaper for you. I bought my Kia Rio before vuhari period about 7yrs ago for 2.4m (manual)Brand new.
I use to fill my tank with 3500 before, now I fill with 6k and it last me a week.
If I was taking uber daily from my house to work daily which iv done some weekend I don't want to drive. It's 4k,2k each way.
How will i afford 4k daily.
Even by bus and okada it's 2k daily.
I havnt fixed anything in that car. Just servicing and I changed brake pad and gas AC twice.

    2. Kia Rio...is that the one that is like half oaf of bread??
It will not consume money na.

    3. Which bus is charging you 2k??? Hain!

      Delete
    4. That half loaf of bread is better than jumping bus and okada.
Go to kia right now. Ask them for brand new Kia Rio, it now goes for 7m. While Small Picanto that was 1m is now 4.5m.
      Keep quiet before mocking people.

  21. See this guy and Adekunle, they are young but very smart. Book smart&Street smart.
I don’t know if he is lying or not. But I know that a mind set like this will get him further in life.
If as a celebrity you are able to hold yourself from showing off(which btw, is another marketing strategy/publicity stunt that can put them on the map) you have reached an ultimate height of self assurance.

This means that your success and worth isn't dependant on pranks and antics. And whether you win or lose, you will still have a mental soundness that peer pressure or society cannot tamper with.

There are only few people that can resist the urge to flaunt their wordly possessions(Marriage,Riches,Kids,Money,Career). Fewer people can live without certain things the society has termed ‘In vogue’

If you have reached that level of ‘unbotheredness’ in life, You have achieved a mean feat. You are a rare breed. We will protect you so your kind won’t go extinct. Congrats!
