DSS Confirm Arrest Of Sowore Because He Called For A Revolution In Nigeria...

Department of State Services (DSS) on Sunday confirmed that its operatives arrested Omoyele Sowore because he called for a revolution in Nigeria.

Sowore, the convener of planned Revolution Now protest against bad governance, was arrested at his apartment in the early hours of Saturday

DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, while addressing reporters in Abuja Sunday afternoon, said Sowore was taken into custody after they received information that Sowore had been in touch with foreign actors to destabilise Nigeria

The DSS official further assured foreign countries of their safety ahead of Monday’s revolution protest planned by Omoyele Sowore, who is in detention.

Afunaya, insisted that Sowore crossed the red line after he called for a revolution over alleged bad governance, insecurity and corruption, among others

Afunaya, who described revolution as insurgency, revolt, insurrection and forceful takeover of government, added that Nigeria is not a Banana Republic and cannot be made one by the likes of Sowore.

He emphasized that DSS will not allow self-centered and violence-inclined persons to take law into their own hands.

  1. "Nigeria is not a Banana republic" but what? What's the difference between this protest and the 'Occupy Nigeria' headed by Gen. Buhari, El Rufai and Pst. Tunde Bakare in 2014?.

Sometimes, a part of me would just want to ignore these people at the receiving end of this executive rascality and brutality, for they were actually the ones that campaigned and brought this sham of a government into existence in the first place. Even Dino Melaye confessed that Jonathan should forgive him seeing that what he(Jonathan) tolerated over him, Buhari couldn't.

I am even surprise they haven't accused Atiku of sponsoring the protest. Maybe Lauretta Onochie is preparing her tweet.

    3. This is crazy like seriously, kidnappers will pick u up anytime, DSS will race u at will, the police will barge ur house even at midnight for the slightest of utterance. We are lying on a timebomb. I don't know but I am so ashamed of this govt and her supporters.
We can't continue to live in perpetual fear and uncertainty.
This wasn't what mko died for, not what zik awo fought for.#sad

    4. Sealord, some of us aren't proud of the country we found ourselves anymore. Nigeria is long gone from being redeemed.

    5. Both anonymous above I put it to you that you guys aren't good student of history. Do you know in 2011 General Buhari called for Revolution after his lost in the Presidential election? Do you guys remember how he commended Turkey revolution? Did Jonathan arrested him them? You think we are all daft like you guys not to recount the past? Should I quote Buhari revolutionary words for you to read? I laugh at you trying to school me on history, an area I thrive so much on.

    6. Countless citizens massacred by Herdsmen, their leader threatened violence over RUGA, nothing. But govt suddenly blazes arms at Sowore, a publisher with no guns nor army.

  2. I would've used "Protest" to cover up the word "revolution".

    1. In as much as I agree with you, they would have still go after him. Has there ever been a protest held successfully against this government? Funny thing is that, the presidency will sponsor a counter protest using the BMO or what they called it and before you know violence everywhere, and they will arrest only the people protesting and leave behind those they sponsored for the counter protest. We have seen that happened on several occasions.

    2. It is an act of cowardice to use the power of the state to intimidate protester.
I have no problem with people who support this govt or any other govt for that matter because every bad decision by the govt will have a way of turning back to hunt us all.#ourmumuneverdo

    3. Teejay, it is a matter of national security, the DSS must act as it's within their functions. Sowore is foolish, and no hero of democracy.

    4. National Security? National Security is the Herdsmen killings, Bh etc that this clueless govt has refused to do anything about. According to someone, Nigeria died under Buhari!

Most people here attacking those who say the truth about Buhari should think deeply if this is the kind of place they want their children to be raised in!

    2. They don't even know what revolution means. Some of you should read about the French Revolution. A lot of blood will need to flow for revolution to be effective. How many Nigerians can give up their lives to make the country better. You think all those countries that are stable today, their citizens just woke up to success? Their success is laced with BLOOD. We need to read and thread softly.

  5. Not a Banana Republic?

    What is she then?

    A zoo perhaps?

Where constitutional rights of citizens are infringed on a daily...
We need more than a revolution as it is.

  6. Instead of APC to include this guy in government so that he can at least bring out some desired results instead of all those sleeping Senators that full the upper Chamber they are busy arresting him. What an irony.

    2. Of course, the truth of the matter is that those calling for revolution do so for selfish political ambition.

  7. When l said something in line with this post yesterday, some people came for my head. A lot of people here only comment with sentiments, can't see beyond their noses. A lot of people here expect you to tow the line of public opinions. They expect you to always say what they want to hear. But no man. Not me man.
