Football Legend Pele Reportedly Depressed...

Pele's son Edinho says his father is suffering from depression after hip replacement surgery.

Pelé is depressed over his poor health and reluctant to leave the house because he cannot walk unaided, according to the Brazil legend’s son, Edinho.

Pelé, who will be 80 in October, has had hip trouble for years and now needs a frame to walk. Many of his recent public appearances have been in a wheelchair.

“He’s pretty fragile. He had a hip replacement and didn’t have an adequate or ideal rehabilitation,” Edinho told TV Globo. “So he has this problem with mobility and that has set off a kind of depression. Imagine, he’s the king, he was always such an imposing figure, and today he can’t walk properly.

“He’s embarrassed, he doesn’t want to go out, be seen, or do practically anything that involves leaving the house. He is reclusive.” Edinho had argued with his father because he had not done the physiotherapy called for after a hip operation, the son added in the report on TheGuardian.com.

  2. He should go for the physiotherapy nah. There is time for everything, once upon a time, he was the king of football, but now he is aged, he shouldn't expect to be as agile and active like he used to be. I wish him quick recovery.

  5. Why depressed? Why take "massive mercies " for granted. I did hips replacement and have not walked since 2018. I'm thankful, even tho it failed, ut hopeful for another trial. Thank You Jesus!

    2. @ anon 21.01,sorry to ask,What went wrong with your surgery? People do walk after hip replacement, except they are really old like around 80yrs-90yrs,but really the patients are always aware before the surgery considering the age.I've known patients that are around 50yrs,60yrs that had hip replacement and they walk again after physio.

  6. I get that feeling. Pele should take solace in the fact that he is still alive. Some people he played with are no more.
