Lebanese Man Who Put Up Nigerian Woman For Sale On Facebook Has Been Arrested

The Lebanese government has arrested its citizen, Wael Jerro, who put up a Nigerian woman for sale on Facebook.

The Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa; tweeted the announcement on Thursday.

According to her

“The Lebanese Government just announced the arrest of Mr. Wael Jerro for onward prosecution against criminal sales of a human, a young Nigerian girl,”

Mr Jerro had advertised the victim, Busari Peace; with her Nigerian passport on a Facebook page, ‘Buy and Sell in Lebanon.’

He wrote in Arabic, “Domestic worker from Nigeria for sale with new legal documents. She’s 30 years old, she’s very active and very clean. Price: $1,000.”
The passport, which she acquired in May 2018, indicated that she hails from Ibadan, Oyo State

The incident generated outrage on social media, and Nigerians called for the arrest of Jerro and rescue of Busari.

Mr Jerro quickly deleted the facebook when he saw the reactions but his info and photos had already been saved by some facebook users.

  1. After spitting on the mans act, teach the women to know their worth, most women will do the unthinkable for money, even here in Nigeria, the shocking thing is, these girls are living average lives, not exactly poor. Go to MCgalaxy IG page and see how low they can literally for money

  7. Can you imagine the scale of heartlessness. Auctioning a fellow human like wares.
    Let's x-ray all the angles.
Commendable social media advocacy by Nigerians that drew the attention of government
Thumbs up to the Diaspora Commission for their swift response. We need further updates that Peace Ufuoma Busari has been rescued, returned and resettled in Nigeria.
Such timely intervention should be shown in other countries like Saudi Arabia, South Africa, India, Dubai etc where Nigerians are going through hell.
Finally, our government needs to do better. If Nigeria is flourishing, there wont be need for Nigerians to migrate to other countries. A whole Lebanon, asin LE-BA-NON. Please a standing ovation for our leaders for winning the Nobel prize for cluelessness, myopism and downright stupidity.

  13. This is how the Arab world treat others who travel to their country for work especially those from Africa, last week I watch a documentary on NTA Lagos. How in Kuwait human were being sold as domestic workers from one house to another, the victims said immediately they arrive their passport will be cease from them so that they can't run away from their inhumane treatment.

  17. There is a documentary on this sale on domestic servants on a large scale in Arab countries. They have two sites where they display them as well as other goods for sale.

A young underaged African girl was rescued by an NGO.

My suggestion is that The Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa should ENGAGE IN ENLIGHTENMENT CAMPAIGNS at the grassroots (in local dialects, pidgin) by partnering with NAPTIP, NGOs and the private sector in all states.

They should go to community meetings, markets, schools, on air (radio and TV stations) social media and disseminate information to the locals.

    1. Word!!! Let the unenlightened ones understand the reality. Traveling abroad isn't an automatic ticket to success, as a matter of fact, you might be killed or turned to an animal especially in Arab countries.
