Bayelsa State Govt Defends Reality Star Nengi,Says She Was Never Appointed Face Of Bayelsa Girl-Child

Bayelsa State government has explained that Big Brother Naija star, Nengi Hampson was never appointed as the Face of Bayelsa Girl-Child.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Daniel Alabrah on Wednesday told the BBC that no such appointment was made in the first place.

Governor Diri had earlier in the week, named Ebizi Blessing Eradiri (A first class graduate of Law) as the Face of Bayelsa Girl-Child and it was immediately assumed that Blessing was used to replace Nengi...

Alabrah told the BBC that the government never appointed Nengi for that role, adding that the government could appoint as many people as it likes depending on whatever sector they want to emphasize.

“Nengi is in the entertainment sector so she can function in that aspect while Ebizi Eradiri is in the education sector.

“All is for them to inspire and encourage girls in the state so they can aspire better. It is bad for people to speculate and politicise everything.”

    5. So contradictory. People were criticizing why Nengi was given two or so post at a go , while Tricky was given one. Some even said it was to avoid criticism that he gave Tricky something at all. Why denying she was never d face of what ever? Such a mess. Internet never forgets.

    1. One question: why are you all excited about Nengi removal or not? Why does this nengi appointment trouble the whole of nigeria social media space? She isn’t the only BBN housemate that has been given an appointment by their STATE Government! Gedoni was give appointment- he is a BBN product but I didn’t see any opposition or black lash, Laycon also got an appointment from his Governor, he is a bbn product but Nigerians seem Not to be interested! Lucy was also given an appointment on tourism by her State Calabar- Lucy is bbn product, Nengi class but Nigerians ain’t interested in that! Trickytee also bbn product and from Bayelsa got an appointment, Nigerians pretended not to see it! So I ask again what is it ABOUT Nengi’ down? Is Nengi underserving? Are all bbn housemates good except for nengi? Is this an unprovoked bullying by Nigerians towards an individual perceived a certain way and already stereotyped? Is this a mob mentality where many Nigerians finds a prey to let out their inherent toxicity as many Nigerians grew up in an atmosphere of envy, bitterness and rancour? Someone please explain to me why Nengi appointment has been an issue of contention NOt just on bbn platform but by every Nigerian on SM seem to have “hot takes” and including older people in the industry! There are threads upon threads on twitter on this particular issue! Why isn’t anyone talking about other bbn housemates appointment! We must look inwards and accept our bias and admit to our unwarranted prejudice against people that look like nengi!

    2. It's just pure jealousy o. The guys don't like her because a lady like Nengi wouldn't give them face. The ladies is envious of her beauty and that someone like Ozo was going crazy over her.

    3. Anonymous 17:04, please, can I hug you for this *hugs*

    4. @Anonymous 17.04 my dear I have been wondering too, why all the hate on Nengi. see the comments here most of them insinuating that there is no need for her to refuse entangling herself with the governor when she is ready doing that with numerous men. Like they live and move around with her. they sooo wish for her to be sleeping around so they can throw more insults on her but Nengi is smart. look at what the poster stated up there causing more confusion. I already read the statement on BBC and it is very clear on Nengi's appointment. I think Nigerians are just vile and looking for who to pour their bitterness, and Nengi became the easy target because of sterotype. in one breath they will sing ..depression is real, girl power, women can make legit money without men, in another breath, they are slutshaming without knowing one personally. for the sake of my sanity I rarely come to this blog or the likes.
