IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu's Lawyer Confirms His Re-arrest And Demands Fair Trial

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has confirmed the re-arrest of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu was arraigned on Tuesday, following his re-arrest and extradition to Nigeria.

In a statement by Bar. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, IPOB/Nnamdi Kanu lead Counsel, he demanded that Kanu’s fundamental rights must be respected while in custody.

The statement read:

“We have just confirmed through a correspondence from the Federal High Court Abuja, about the arrest and the extradition of my Client- Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the Nigerian State.

It is to be noted, therefore, that no matter the gravity of the offences or charge preferred against him, Section 36(5) of the Constitution still presumes him innocent of the allegation.

He was brought before the Federal High Court No 2 Abuja today on an Eleven count charge, though without our knowledge.

As it is in the public domain, the matter has been consequently adjourned to the 26th Day of July 2021, for Continuation of Trial.

The legal team ably led by my humble self will meet them in court on this date.

We insist that he must be given a fair hearing/trial which is his constitutionally protected right.

His safety as also guaranteed under our law throughout the trial and afterwards, should be enforced.

Our fortified Legal team will be meeting to agree on strategies within the context of the Charge and disposition of the Court.

Await further update from us as we progress.

Thank you and remain blessed.

Signed
Bar. Ifeanyi Ejiofor
IPOB/Nnamdi Kanu lead Counsel.

  2. He would definitely get a fair trial with you and other lawyers by his side. Just remember that he now has additional charges on his head and I wonder what instrument of law you would use this time around Mr lawyer. Just a friendly reminder, he would trailed in a Nigerian court ( Zoo court)

I heard someone saying that the UK would never extradite its citizen and he was caught in Kenya, well the koko is that he was caught whether in the UK, Kenya or even Togo. How the mighty had fallen, I thought he was intelligent and smarter than his followers, obviously not.

This reminds me of an adage that says " pikin way say him mama no go sleep, himself no go sleep ". He has being beating the drums of war, now he should face it consequences

  3. Elohim, let thy will be done. My Amiable Barr. Ejiofor, you can only do what man can do but Elohim knows it all and will always take charge. I believe everything in life have a reason for happening. The road to freedom is a long walk of pain, torture and above all, sacrifice. It's never an easy route.

    3. Teejah I sorry for you ooooooooooooooooooooooooo. You're here ranting and your supreme leader was wearing to match fendi. Channel your energy into holding your Governors accountable instead of beating drums of war. You can also follow what is happening to the innocent masses in Northern Tigray and learn that war is not an option

    4. TJ, I've always read ur comments and liked ur kind of person, and also a fellow Nwa Afor. Are u trying to tell me u supported MNK to kill security personnel and destroy critical infastruture? Do you know that when u kill cops or order their being killed, no Jupiter can save you. I lost it when he told his followers to kill security men.
At least, he wil now rest. Trust me,he will soon come out singing one Nigeria. I pity those that died for nothing.

  4. So this man can be caught? With all the noise and all. I thought he's untouchable. His followers and believers will live freely, moving on with their lives but him! Wisdom is profitable to direct.

    1. Of course he will. A fairer hearing than the terrorists US locked up in Guatanamo Bay or British born ISIS fighters the UK locked up in Jordan. The Nigerian government don’t do rendition.

  9. As an Igbo person, I'm glad that he has been arrested. Inciting violence isn't the best way to agitate for independence. Every true revolutionary knows that a revolution shouldn't cost you the lives of those you intend to liberate. Nnamdi Kanu talks too much and lacks strategy. Isn't MASSOB recognized by the UN? I've told people, If Biafra were to happen, Kanu would be a totalitarian leader. They development that the SE seeks wouldn't happen; look at the current mess we are in with the governors that currently lead! Zak Zakay's case is what he is about to experience!

  10. Fake news. The man arrested wasn't MNK, but jubril's son from sudan.
