ReplyDeleteBv Gifted I saw your comment on FAQ post this morning, the one about deliberately birthing small babies for ease during childbirth. Are you Yoruba?
My husband is Yoruba, so when pregnant, my mother inlaw told me to stop drinking bournvita and milk, too much eggs and meat and the rest at 7 months, so that my baby will not be too big to birth easily, especially as it was my first pregnancy. She told me it is better I birth a small baby easily and later feed her well to make her big.
I followed her advice and gave birth to a baby that was a little above 3kg, via emergency CS 😩
Things turned around on the day of delivery and I had to go through that to save me and the baby after labouring for hours.
Talking about man's plan and God's plan.
If I had known it was CS I will later do, I would not have listened to her and kuku birth a chubby baby, without the pains of labouring for hours though.
I still thank God.
I live in a Yoruba state and I see that the locals give birth to tiny babies most times, they drink this herbs(agbo) that makes their babies small before birthing, according to them, the babies come out smoothly without the mothers suffering any tear.
Well, in all we should just pray for a smooth delivery without any casualty no matter the means of delivery..

My mum too gave me that advise when I was pregnant, but truth is these things are not cast in stone, the weight of baby at birth depends on a lot of factors, not just nutrition.
DeleteI drank my thick Milo and ate as I liked with my first and still gave birth to a 2.7kg baby, I had always wanted small babies too anyway, just to make birthing easy but guess what? I was still given episiotomy with her tiny self because of the way she positioned her arm.
My second was 3.3kg at birth and he slipped out with ease.
I have some very lepa friends who ate in moderation during pregnancy but still gave birth to babies over 4kg at birth.
My advise is just eat healthy, take your fruits and veggies and leave everything in God's hands as whatever will be will be.
Also, stuff like diabetes in pregnancy makes babies quite big at birth.
Apply olive oil around the entrance of your v throughout your pregnancy to improve elasticity and reduce the chances of tear. This was an old school doctor's advice to all his pregnant patients in Lagos. It seems to work because the first was 4.3kg, no tear. 2nd pregnancy was a set of twins, no tear.
DeleteAlso apply bio oil on your tummy to improve the skin's elasticity as the baby grows and your tummy expands during pregnancy. This helps to prevent/reduce stretch marks.

In my quiet moment i just told myself, isn’t this what her dad did to the numerous women he married? And now her dad hates her husband cos it hurts him the way he has been treating his daughter. So in this life, be good, especially if u have kids, they would reap ur goodness. Don’t be evil to other ppl’s kids and expect God to spare urs.

ReplyDeleteChief calls me his sister because his mother is from my town. So we became family friends. Last year he had stroke and complications from the illness led to his death.
Chief was buried late December 2023. After the outing service, his family came back to the city. After a week, the wife travelled to her son's city. I suspected she was up to something.
Today, someone told me she has travelled abroad to stay with her daughter confirming my suspicion . Haba, Madam, you have moved on too fast. Barely 6 months after your lovely (so I thought) husband's demise. Not judging her anyways.
Life must go on you say, but my heart bleeds for my Chief.

So she should keep mourning him in Nigeria for how many more months? She travelled to be with her daughter abroad, and so?
