Reality TV Star Tolani Baj Says Afrobeats Legends Who Have Run Out Of Ideas Should Retire

Reality TV star and disc jockey Tolanibaj has urged Afrobeats legends who have run out of ideas or lost their melodies to consider retiring.

She explained that there is no shame in retirement, emphasising that they should stop watering down their brand with wack music as they are doing now.

She made the call amid the widespread criticisms that have greeted Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy’s new releases, especially among opposing fans on social media.
Speaking in a video message shared via her TikTok page, Tolanibaj said, “Why is it that Nigerian artists don’t know when to evolve or completely transition into business?

“I feel like if your sound no longer resonates with your fans or your audience, [you should] go into business. If you have built an amazing legacy, why do you constantly allow the disrespect of being compared to the new generational artists? What’s wrong with becoming a music executive where you shine light on the new generational artists and become a boss?

“Olamide and Don Jazzy are perfect examples of whom OG artists need to embody. Stop allowing yourself to be disrespected. There are a lot of artists on this table. Please, do better. There is no shame in retiring. Stop dropping nonsense music to water down your brand, especially if your catalogue in the past is A1. I would rather you not even drop music at all and become a lifestyle influencer.”

  2. She's right.
Truth is, nobody can remain relevant forever but you can have a solid legacy.
Some artistes do these because of their crave to out-do each other as a result of unnecessary comparisons from their toxic fans.

Sadly, this is not limited to Nigeria artistes only, an average Nigeria do not know how to bow out or leave the stage when the ovation is loud because they are power drunk and lack the spiritual understanding of times and seasons.

There was a time BlackBerry phone was a craze, Who uses that today? NOBODY!

  5. What kind of advice is that. So this is how you give up trying when you run out of ideas? Who told you the brain that supplies ideas cannot be revived even in old age? See you see Alzheimer disease at old age for your wrong choice of resting or giving up anytime you run out of ideas. In this life, know the kind of people you take advice from
