Actress Omotola Reacts To Movie Producer Lancelot's Call For Actors To Give Back To Nollywood
Omotola highlighted the unfavorable financial sharing formula as reason for not giving back to Nollywood and cited the high deductions from box office earnings, including taxes and fees. According to Omotola, cinema exhibitors take 50% of returns, while governments deduct various taxes. She also mentioned distributor fees, VAT, and publicity costs that further reduce earnings....

Does it mean the owner of the movie don't make any money from cinema because all the deductions above is more than 100% or if I'm getting it wrong someone should explain to me like a small child please.

DeleteDEDUCTIONS FROM GHANA AND LIBERIA IS WHEN YOU TAKE THE MOVIE THERE, IF YOU DONT TAKE IT THERE DO NOT ADD IT TO THE TOTAL PERCENTAGE DEDUCTED
ReplyDeleteDouble vat tax is unfair and 50% to the cinema that doesn't invest in production is unconscionable. Showing on Netflix or YouTube may make more sense financially.
