Security forces, comprising troops of the Nigerian Military and operatives of the Department of State Services have arrested three suspects who allegedly masterminded the kidnapping of the NDLEA Commander in Anambra State. The suspects, who are currently in the troops’ custody, undergoing interrogation, were nabbed on June 26 when the security operatives raided the residence of some identified suspected kidnappers.

Tragedy struck on Thursday as a three-storey building collapsed at 2/4 Asesi Lane, Sasi Lane (SASI Palace), off Adeniji Adele Road, Lagos Island, leaving at least four people rescued while an unspecified number are feared trapped. According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around midday amid light rainfall. The exact cause of the collapse had not been determined as of press time.

Gunmen on Wednesday attacked some mourners in the Rim community of Plateau State and amputated one of the youths. It was gathered on Thursday that the mourners were returning from a burial in the neighbouring Bachit community when the gunmen, who blocked the road, shot at them and amputated one of the victims.

The Nigeria Union of Teachers, Federal Capital Territory, will any moment from now, call off the three-month primary school teachers’ strike, following the intervention of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. Chief of Staff to the minister, Mr Chidi Amadi disclosed this in Abuja on Tuesday, after a closed-door meeting with the Area Council Chairmen, leadership of the NUT, and representatives of the FCT Administration.

Abducted serving judge of the Bayelsa State High Court, Justice Ebiyerin Omukoro, has regained his freedom after spending 12 days in captivity.
It was gathered that Justice Omukoro was kidnapped on the evening of Saturday, 21st June 2025, at Kilimanjaro Eatery, opposite Ekeki Park, shortly after returning from a trip to Warri, Delta State.
Though he was released on Thursday, further details surrounding the conditions of his freedom remain sketchy
