He explained why this is an important precaution that supports flight safety.
“Putting your phone on airplane mode won’t stop the plane from flying,”, “but it does help prevent annoying interference in the cockpit.”
The pilot clarified that a plane won’t fall out of the sky just because a few passengers forget to flip the switch. However, he explained that if several devices attempt to connect to cell towers during the flight — especially when receiving calls or messages — the resulting radio waves can interfere with the headsets worn by pilots.
“I once heard this loud buzzing in my headset — like a mosquito or wasp flying around my ear — while trying to land the plane,” he said. “It made it hard to hear critical instructions from air traffic control.”
Though it may sound harmless, such interference can be distracting , especially during high-focus moments like take-off or landing, when communication is most crucial.uninterrupted communication vital to ensure safety.
He said pilots often operate with limited visibility and rely heavily on clear audio transmissions.
You know i find it so worrisome when people don't heed to instructions .... especially well travelled individuals...
ReplyDeleteIt’s very annoying tbh! I encountered some lousy yahoo boys recently on an evening flight who vehemently refused to put phones on airplane mode
DeleteIt is annoying. You will see air hostesses talking to adults, begging them to switch off their phones, they won't answer. Sometimes I wanna konk them so bad.
DeleteVery simple instruction, people will still display their ignorance to the detriment of their safety π‘π‘
DeleteI always put off my phone completely. Nothing concern me with airplane mode.
ReplyDeleteBest option sef!
DeleteThis explanation is lovely. Thanks for sharing. I was even thinking something will happen and it's mandatory all phones are switched to flight mode.

Something might actually still happen you know? Just imagine everyone on the plane refused to put their phones on airplane mode, won't that seriously affect the transmission between the pilot and the air traffic control which might have serious negative effect? And he clearly stated that they rely heavily on audio transmission. To obey simple instructions for few minutes/hours shouldn't be a problem gaskia
DeleteIt's actually not nice when people choose to ignore instructions.
ReplyDeleteNow I understand better
ReplyDeleteObeying Simple Instructions is Safety...
ReplyDeleteThanks For Sharing π
Hello iya Boys
I always wondered why being asked to put phone on flight mode
ReplyDeleteSimple instructions, we won't adhere to. Na when hiccups dey, we go dey shout....
ReplyDeleteExcellent explanation
ReplyDeleteI know some ppl hate living and would be happy if they died tomorrow, but those of us who want to continue living should not be at these ppl's mercy. Turn your devices off and let the cockpit ppl do their jobs in peace.
