 President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, and approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Tunji Disu as Acting Inspector-General of Police with immediate effect. Egbetokun tendered his resignation letter earlier on Tuesday, citing pressing family considerations.- He was allegedly sacked.


 The Federal Government has maintained its stance that there is nothing like religious persecution in Nigeria. Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, made this known while reacting to the report that US Congressmen submitted to President Donald Trump, on Monday.

The Federal Government on Tuesday filed a fresh 12-count charge against Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, and Ponfa Useni, also known as Tali Shani, over alleged conspiracy, forgery, impersonation and unlawful control of a property in the United Kingdom. In the charge filed by the Federal Ministry of Justice, the defendants were accused of forging a Nigerian International Passport and other documents to support a claim to a property located at No. 79 Randall Avenue, London NW2.

 Four people were burnt to death after two vehicles collided at Kwaita village along the Abuja-Lokoja highway. A witness said the accident occurred around 4:33 am on Sunday and involved a Toyota Matrix and a J5 Boxer bus, both without registration numbers.

 Police detectives in Ondo State, have arrested 10 suspected kidnappers and recovered ransom collected from their victims in Akure, the state capital. The command’s spokesperson, Jimoh Abayomi, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

Two fishermen have been reportedly killed in an ambush by armed herdsmen in Obishu community of Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State. A source in the area disclosed that the victims were waylaid by the killer herdsmen late Monday while at their mud fishing pond to harvest their fish.

The Sierra Leone Police Authority has arrested a Nigerian national, Patrick Nonso, at the Freetown International Airport after he was allegedly found in possession of 46 wraps of a white substance suspected to be cocaine. It was gathered from a Sierra Leonean news platform, Sierraloaded, on Tuesday that the suspect was apprehended on Sunday during routine airport screening.

 Nigeria is set to begin exporting a new light, sweet crude grade known as Cawthorne in March as part of efforts to boost oil production and consolidate the recent recovery in output, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has disclosed. The development, which was confirmed by a spokesperson of the NNPCL on Tuesday, is expected to strengthen the country’s position within the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.
