Thirty-six state governors under the aegis of the Nigeria Governors ‘ Forum, NGF, have thrown their weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s reforms, requiring oil and gas revenue entitlements to be remitted directly into the Federation Account. The governors described the move as critical to strengthening fiscal transparency, predictability, and constitutional alignment across all tiers of government.

The Nigeria Police Council has ratified the appointment of Olatunji Disu as the Inspector-General of Police. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, in a statement after the Council meeting on Monday. He said the development has paved the way for the swearing-in of Disu by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday.

 Alhaji Adamu Abubakar, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has resigned from his position as Commissioner for Works and Energy Development under Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri. 

Adamu, who had distanced himself from the wave of defections involving the governor and members of his administration last Friday, formally announced on Monday that he had stepped down from the state executive council with immediate effect.

 The abducted Christian worshippers of the Celestial Church of Christ, CCC in Uso community, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, have regained their freedom. The four worshippers were released on Monday evening at Ilado community after their families reportedly paid a ransom of N9 million to the abductors.

The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, has indicated his intention to appear before the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB for allegations of non-declaration of assets. In a statement signed by the court’s Director of Information, Dr Catherine Oby Christopher on Monday, Justice Tsoho requested the bureau to fix any date commencing from the week of March 16 as the most convenient for his appearance.

A senior refinery official confirmed the adjustment to Vanguard on Monday, explaining that the move was necessary due to recent volatility in global crude oil markets.

 Troops of the Joint Task Force in Gwarzo, led by personnel of the 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have foiled an attempted cattle rustling incident in Kano State, recovering 257 livestock. The operation followed a distress call in the early hours of Sunday, at about 6:57 a.m., reporting that bandits had rustled cattle from Mainika village in Gwarzo Local Government Area.

The Peoples Democratic Party has said it is not conducting congresses in any part of the country, describing reports of planned party congresses as “false information” being circulated by expelled members aligned with the All Progressives Congress. In a statement on Monday, the National Chairman of the PDP faction, Kabiru Turaki, said the circulation of such information was part of a deliberate attempt to undermine the party and derail Nigeria’s democratic processes.

 Anambra Government on Monday sealed the popular Nkwo-Ogbe market in Ihiala Local Government Area of the state over traders’ refusal to open for business on Monday in a bid to end the sit-at-home order. Confirming the development to newsmen, the Chairman of Ihiala Local Government Council, Mr Anayochukwu Ojiako, said that the market would be shutdown for one week.
