Guinea Wants 1976 AFCON Reviewed After CAF Strips Senegal’s Title

The Guinea Football Federation has asked CAF to revisit the 1976 AFCON final outcome. They argue Morocco should not have been crowned champions after briefly walking off the pitch in protest during their decisive match against Guinea.

Guinea says the same disciplinary rules used to strip Senegal of the 2025 AFCON title should apply retroactively. 

In 1976, Guinea led 1-0 before Morocco equalised late to secure the draw they needed to win the trophy.

The federation insists: “Give us back our 1976 AFCON trophy.”
CAF has not yet responded to the appeal.
