A woman, Abiodun, has asked the Grade A Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan, to end her relationship with her husband, Damilola, accusing him of irresponsibility, constant trouble, and repeated battery.
She told the court that Damilola did not paid her bride price and acted only as a “figurehead” claiming to be the head of the home while abandoning every responsibility.
According to her, she fed the family, paid the school fees of their five children, and worked tirelessly to keep the home running, yet he offered no support and instead rewarded her sacrifices with neglect and frequent beatings.
She said he eventually threw her out of the house in August last year, prompting her to seek freedom. She pleaded with the court to dissolve the union, grant her custody of the children, compel Damilola to provide for their feeding and education, and restrain him from invading her privacy.
Damilola, in his response, agreed that they should go their separate ways.
The court president, Mrs. S.M. Akintayo, adjourned the case until April 20,2026 for defence.

Why is the Judge adjourning again? This kind of case is instant divorce and no room for settlement

Money you no bring you still deh beat her
ReplyDeleteOga you are sick
I thought there was no marriage in the first place. That judge should just free that woman.

Shebi na so ur twinnie too they live with man that didn't pay her bride price. U were not informed?
DeleteStella they need adjoining because in the first place they are not married, they 'moved in together '.
ReplyDelete“My husband did not pay my bride price. We started living together shortly after we met,” she said.
Secondly the court needs to investigate the man's income to state how much he would be paying for the children's upkeep.
Which wedlock are they dissolving when there was no 'wed' in the beginning. Two weeks dating like this na ,' my husband my husband '. Mwetch
So you don’t know they married in court but not traditionally
DeleteI love women that knows what they want.
ReplyDeleteWhy are unmarried couples always go to court for disunion of their relationships, is there any union before, what will the judge dissolve?
ReplyDeleteFigure head husband and a so-called head of the house without functioning brain, and you will see them outside and all over social media shouting up and down that they are the sole provider or breadwinner, they will never say it outside that they're irresponsible and deadbeat.
But they were not wedded in the first place, which dissolution are they asking for.. I do say it, don't pack your things and be leaving in a man's house, a man not ready for commitment you are giving him free gbenshing,it will make him more underious. Now a whole 5 kids in this economy only one person go come dey cater for? Infact in this economy please give birth to only the number of kid(s) only you can comfortably take care of.. if it's one, e don do. Don't allow anybody pressure you o.
ReplyDeletehe did not pay your bride price but you gave birth to 5 children. Una dey try.
ReplyDeleteCommon law marriage
ReplyDeleteSome people marry in court wjthout pagng brideprice. Also, this is common law marriage and yo dissolve the relationship, they need to go to court to sort out settlement
ReplyDeleteToo many husbands are just vile to their wives and children, they are too many. How can you bring violence home? Terrorizing your family, may God have no mercy when it’s time for pay back.
ReplyDeleteEmpty Bride Price With Five kids
ReplyDeleteMadam Kilode 🙄
Hello iya Boys
So what is the legal penalty for the battery? Or is that going into the penance account?
ReplyDeleteLike ..WTF..adjourned gini?
ReplyDeleteThose of you condemning the woman for staying in a relationship because the bride price was not paid, what the man did to her has nothing to do with the bride price. I was legally married to a man, and my bride price was also paid but what I experienced in the hand of this man was worse than this woman experience. I hope the court will grant her what she desires.
