Pastor Adeboye's Wife Says She Discarded Her Jewelleries After She Became Born Again...

The wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Mrs. Foluke Adenike Adeboye, has shared the sacrifices she made after giving her life to Christ.
In a resurfaced old video, she explained that before her conversion, she had a strong passion for fashion and had invested heavily in gold and copper jewellery, including pieces she had already prepared for her young child. But after joining RCCG at a time when wearing earrings and similar adornments was considered inappropriate, she made a drastic decision to discard everything.

“Every woman loves fashion. For example, I had already made a set of gold and all kinds of things for my child who was under two years before we became born again. But the moment we became born again, then in RCCG, it’s a taboo for you to have earring, so everything — we dropped it in the lagoon.

My mother’s friend came and asked me, ‘You should have given all these to your mother so that she can go and sell it.’
I said, ‘Whatever is not good for me is not good for my mother.’
So I just loved to look good. At least in the days of copper, when we were wearing copper instead of gold, only God knows how much I spent on copper. So I didn’t miss anything.”

  1. Madam you didnt have to wear it, it is an asset just like the land and houses y’all keep acquiring. Today a gram is over 200k, ur children would have gotten good inheritance and a good start up in life. This is me assuming not all ur kids would go into the ministry business.

  3. Personal choice and conviction.

    Revelation 21:21
And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

    Either this...
    .
    Genesis 35:4
    'And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold;

    Or

    Genesis 24' 21-24
21And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.
22And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold; 23And said, Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee: is there room in thy father's house for us to lodge in? 24And she said unto him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, which she bare unto Nahor.

  4. Erm madam, why not discard the private jet now? Even Jesus did not but chariots and horses. He borrowed a donkey and boats.

    1. It’s not. But some congregations see it as a form of vanity that keeps ppl’s hearts locked into the material world and superficial beauty instead of spiritual beauty.

There are still a number of denominations that are anti-adornments, not just only with jewelry. Some even require simple hairdos of natural hair and simple style of dressing, nothing elaborate, modest and plain. No beautification, no makeup, stylish shoes, even perfume which may entice men is forbidden.

    2. Thanks for the explanation Anon 🙏 Truly, I see some denominations without jewelry.

  7. Most church doctrines then was man-made and misleading. The bible recommends moderation. I guess Mrs Adeboye outgrew it or tied it to a reason in her life when God started to bless her.

I used to do eyelashes and na man collect am from my hand not God. We were dating then and he just looked at me and said, "This lashes makes you look terrible"... Ha! I mean, I'm wearing this so that I can be beautiful in your eyes na...
It was like somebody pressed a reset button. That was the last time.

Nothing is wrong with wearing those things, but trust human to put themselves under bondage in the name of Jesus Christ.

    1. Hmmm, calling an elderly person ofon just because of her faith and conviction show the kind of person you are, I hope you know the meaning. Even if she's not old enough to birth you, I believe she's old to be your older sister.

    2. And you had to insult her? You had to?
      Na wa o!

    3. What did she steal from you? You people should stop hating on them, they don't force anyone to bring tithe, offerings and seeds, people pay it because they feel like.
And everyone to his own beliefs, if they belief they won't make heaven because of wearing gold, that's up to them.

  9. God bless you ma. If I can afford gold, I will buy and wear it, I have so.many people in my denomination who sees it as a sin. Our conviction about following Christ is different and I applaud anyone who is following Christ genuinely.

  10. Lolll. It is the people that followed her and did the same I pity.😆
If you like, don't work out your own ways and use what you may have as common sense to reason and advise yourself.
You go dey use your head dey break to rock.

  11. Doctrine vs dogma. He who believes something is a sin and does it, is sinning so I understand her. Freedom comes by revelation.

Before sin entered this world, the garden of Eden and all of the earth already had all the gold present till this day. The temple of God and his ark were adorned with gold. Gold represented the divinity and holiness of God. The garments of the high priest who entered into the presence of God in his holy of holies had gold and many precious metals.

Peter did not say that women should not wear gold but that it shouldn't be seen as their beauty but certain translations feed the flesh's addiction to laws by which no one can be saved:

"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. 4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight- 1pet 3:3-5. In other words, baddie in Christianity is not by what you wear but what you carry within. Would they follow the text and ban weaving, demanding all their female members go on low cut or do thread to attain the correct level of self-inflicted-suffering. Cornrows is part of braiding o!

To then take the wealth God have you and dump if in the sea is unwise waste. If gold is good enough for God to pave heaven and his former house on earth with it, even his throne and crowns of the saints, how is it not good enough for your family? This same gold is what the father put on his prodigal son in addition to correct clothes and other items of clothing. Olorun o roro.

The same people don't see flying in luxury private jets as vanity. Luxury SUVs instead of bare boned sedans are okay. Choice houses in nice neighborhoods are fine. Perfume that awakens earthly senses that cost more than the salary of a director in civil service are allowed. Funny looking hats that age with every tide of fashion yet cost hundreds of thousands of naira pass the test. It is when buying investments that outlive generations and uphold their value that pharisee thinking takes hold.

Thank God for delivering me from the curse of the law through Jesus Christ. Grace to others in his name. Shebi the people claiming deeper are streaming on shallow apoti esu both on TV and online now.

  13. Those days, most churches see things like jewelries, cars and even living in fanciful houses as the things of the world.

The doctrines then were so harsh and a lot of people had to do away with their "flashy" possessions. Some had to stop watching even TV. It is well.

  14. I can't quarrel with her conviction at the time. She is also free to change her thinking at any time. Those stuff were assets that would have been worth a lot today. But now she is still doing well. There isn't really any indication that she lost anything. I believe she has far more than that today.
