President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved new leadership appointments in major institutions under the Federal Ministry of Education, including NECO, NBTE, the Federal Polytechnic N’yak‑Shendam, and the National Library of Nigeria.
NECO:
• Prof. Modupe Adeola Adelabu becomes Chairman, Governing Board.
• Prof. Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi is retained as Registrar/CEO.
Adelabu is a retired OAU professor, former Ekiti Deputy Governor, and former NBTE Chair.
NBTE:
• Prof. Babatunde Salako appointed Chairman.
• Prof. Idris M. Bugaje reappointed Executive Secretary for a final 5‑year term.
Salako previously served as DG of NIMR (2016–2024), where he strengthened research governance and international partnerships.
Federal Polytechnic, N’yak‑Shendam:
• Engr. Dr. Bongfa Binfa appointed Rector for a single 5‑year term.
He succeeds pioneer Rector Dr. Mukaila Zakari Ya’u.
Binfa holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia) and previously served as Deputy Rector (Academic) at the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny.
National Library of Nigeria:
• Prof. Chinwe Veronica Anunobi has her tenure renewed for a final 5‑year term.
She has led major reforms, including the National Repository, Newspaper & Magazine Locator, Index & Abstract to Nigerian Newspapers, and the National Virtual Library.
Her renewed mandate is expected to ensure continuity and support the completion of the long‑delayed National Library Headquarters and the 2025–2030 Strategic Plan.
