Man Seeks Divorce From Wife Over Death Threats After She Discovered He Was Dating 2 Ladies

A man, Gbolahan, has asked the Grade A Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan to dissolve his nine‑year marriage to his wife, Sarah, accusing her of infidelity, constant fighting, physical assault and threatening his life with a knife.

He told the court that Sarah became unfaithful after their 2017 customary marriage, allegedly sending daily love messages to a tricycle rider. He said her extravagant lifestyle ruined two businesses he established for her, and her constant quarrels with neighbours forced them to relocate four times in eight years.

Their marriage worsened after Sarah discovered he was dating two ladies in his church, leading to repeated fights and knife threats. He said he eventually moved out because he feared for his life, but Sarah still humiliates him publicly whenever they meet.
Gbolahan asked the court for custody of their first two children, leaving the third with Sarah, and requested a restraining order to stop her from threatening him or invading his privacy.
Sarah denied all allegations but told the court she is ready to end the marriage.
Court President Mrs. S. M. Akintayo adjourned the matter for defence.

  1. See how he's feeling like a victim after making his wife to go insane because of his philandering ways. Very selfish human. If he as a woman would he accept half of what his wife tolerated. After building life and investing her all with you, you now see small change to be frolicking up and down and you want someone who has lost her all while staying with you to leave the marriage just like that. If they check well they will discover that you never invested in her life during the relationship nor marriage that's why it's so easy for you to treat her badly without remorse.

    1. I work in the justice sector. What we mostly read in the media is hardly ever the reality when it comes to issues like this. Circumspection, rather than wholesale siding with one person should be our watch word.

Although I know that we always strive to give our opinions about issues we read online or are told verbally, let's always try to be objective. Never jump on the bandwagon. The case is before a law court. None of us have the facts.

Come to court and see lies, half truths, and outright exaggerations being busted daily and you will learn never to believe everything you read on face value.

  2. Two wrongs don't make a right. Glad both parties have agreed to go their separate ways. Best decision.
And no one should stay in an abusive marriage. Either man or woman.
