Avila was mauled by Hades, Brown’s 200‑pound Caucasian Shepherd, while taking out trash at his Tarzana home.
Her sister, Patricia Avila, was awarded $885,000 for emotional distress, and Avila’s husband, Oscar Olivo, received $50,000.
Jurors were swayed by testimony that Brown did not call 911 and instead left the bloody scene, driving around for hours to avoid a “media circus.”
Brown claimed the dog was for security and said he warned the sisters about going outside without security, but they denied ever having such conversations due to a language barrier.

Driving round to avoid media circus when he should have quickly taken the victim to the hospital. What he was avoiding eventually happened.
