The worship pathway. When you're on the worship pathway, you resonate with the psalmist: 'I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go into the house of the Lord"' (Psalm 122:1 NKJV). Something deep inside you feels released when praise is given. Your heart opens up and you come alive. You find yourself in tears, sometimes in moments of deep joy, because God seems so close.
But here are two cautions if you're on this pathway: (1) Don't judge people who are not as outwardly expressive as you. Some people grew up in churches where no one raised a finger, let alone a hand in worship. (2) Guard against an experience-based spirituality that has you always looking for the next 'worship high'. C.S. Lewis wrote about the fatal sin of saying, 'Encore!' by demanding that God reproduce an experience or an emotion. He said that of all prayers, this may be the one God is least likely to grant because it can lead us to worship an experience rather than the God to whom our experience points. Music, for instance, can be a great gift to worship. But because music affects our feelings so powerfully, we can grow dependent on it to produce a certain emotional response. In this case, you may need to spend some time worshipping God without music, so that your worship is based on who God is and not a matter of getting swept up in certain sounds. Also, you may need to engage more in Bible study so that your heart is deeply rooted in the knowledge of God.

DeleteToday is women crush Wednesday and I want to use today to plead with all women, we all need to do better for our children. Help your children by staying alive, healthy, birth what you can comfortably take care of, train them to be someone in the future, teach them how to be responsible children in the future, get them a good father, protect them at all cost, never allow them suffer or stay with anyone as a maid, help, assistance to any family.
ReplyDeleteThe way some persons are treating their helps or maids is so terrible, you over labour those children and yet you cannot take good care of them. My neighbour woke everyone since 4am because their maid was cooking rice and went back to sleep. Poor girl that will sleep late, she will continue to work and work. The poor girl sleeps late, she will be the first to wake up, she will cook, clean, dress their children for school, last to go to school, first to come back, the girl eat beating almost everyday. Some times I feel like to confront my neighbour but the times my husband have spoken with the man he has always said to my husband she is my maid and I need to treat her as I want cos I pay her fees and feed her. Return this poor girl, they will not because they cannot do the house chores yet the girl is suffering. To think his wife is a barrister with evil mind, they are even pastors with this dirty attitude.

DeleteMy aunt treated her husband's sister (last born) this way. I threatened to report them to the authorities if they refused to treat her better or send her back to her parents. Before they traveled to the village during the festive period, I told the girl to go and hide when it's time to return to the city, she did just that. That was how she was able to escape the cruelty of my aunt. Men need to do better too. Stop watching your wives treat other people's children with cruelty. You're culpable too.
A lot of women are never nice to kids that aren't theirs. Why? Na wa!

This is a painful reality. Every child deserves love, care and protection, whether they are your biological child or a domestic help. If you can't treat another person's child with kindness and dignity please don't take responsibility for them. A little compassion can change a child's life forever.

The ogas in our neighbourhood could no longer tolerate the abuse, so they reported her to the appropriate authorities. DeleteThis is exactly how my mom was treated by her aunt, she said she saw shege banza in her aunt's place, and anytime she ran back to her parents, they would still send her back to her aunt, and it wasn't as if they weren't capable of taking care of her, but olden days wives didn't have a say in husband's house, they followed their husbands rules and regulations, and her father was insisting that he couldn't take her back from his younger sister so that there won't be disunity between two of them.
i am even afraid to speak with the girl before she will talk to them and it will look like i am a terrible person. I wish that girl can just go back to her parent and allow them face shege banza.
