    5. Onugbu soup and ora soup can never be complete without ogili. It's like cooking naija fried rice without curry. And some people may say that they cook fried rice without curry. Then you can't and shouldn't call your concoction fried rice. It's just the same with onugbu soup. Please respect our nne ofe bikonu.

  2. Wow. I prepared this soup on Thursday. I rarely eat bitterleaf soup because the only time I can eat it is of I wash the leaves myself. I don't buy or eat already washed one lai lai.
    Stella, hot onugbu/egusi soup and cold eba in the morning is everything.

    1. You thicken Nsala soup mostly with yam but some people use other things as thickener while the pepper soup is watery.

  10. Please o ogiri is not supposed to be optional,infact it's what gives it the taste,and we mustn't use your method,Na foreign method be that,we that came from idemili local government area Na we get the onugbu soup anytime anyday.
    When you taste the soup in an occasion to can easily detect if it's prepared by an idemili person,if the Ede(cocoyam) and ogiri including the bitter leaf itself is from idemili.

    1, is it with Irish or with sweet potatoes??

    2, do they cook it or pound it??

    1. Irish potatoes, peel, wash and cut if you prefer to make it boil quickly. Put in a pot with some water and little salt to cook for about 30 to 45 minutes depending on the quantity and size of your potatoes. Once it's cooked. Drain the excess water out. Mash up the potatoes with a wooden spoon, add a bit of butter and fresh milk and it's ready. Enjoy!!

      Wash and dice them
      I leave my skin on
      Add some salt and boil
      When its soft get a masher and mash it
      Add heave cream and butter
      Eyeball it and taste
      I finish mine with shredded cheddar cheese
      Bacon bits and parsley
      Yummmm

    h fish and pap I made... Everyone asked for more and this made me really proud😊

    Some people use achi as thickner when cooking onugbu but if you want the original taste, use cocoyam. I don't use ogiri and it still comes out really nice

    2. IT comes out nice but not original. No olugbo without ogiri. THe last one I made, my hubby's relatives were all praising me. They were like this is the best!! Ogiri makes the difference

  22. Go Ochanja Market for onitsha, Awka or Nnewi go eat Onugbu or Oha, thank me later. I am ibo but we dont use Ogiri or okpei for soups. Used to think they stink. But years spent in Anambra and I caught the bug. Ogiri is so bae, so also okpei.
