In God's Word we read, 'The man who is often reproved but refuses to accept criticism will suddenly be broken and never have another chance"' (Proverbs 29:1 TLB). King Solomon was reputed to be the wisest man who ever lived. He wrote these words, but sadly he didn't live by them, so he was suddenly 'broken'. And if it could happen to Solomon, none of us are immune!
Character is still a crucial issue in our day: political, business and religious leaders still fall so publicly. As a leader, you don't operate in a vacuum. You influence many others, and when you fall they feel the repercussions. When a big oak tree falls, it takes the little trees with it.
So how can you guard against falling? By not favouring gifts over character. People have an unhealthy tendency to celebrate and reward someone's gift and overlook their character; both must be developed. Character is the sum total of your daily habits. In Psalm 15, David gives us eight traits to look for in a leader worthy of respect:
(1) They have integrity.
(2) They don't take part in gossip.
(3) They don't harm others.
(4) They speak up against wrong.
(5) They honour those who walk in the truth.
(6) They keep their promise, even at personal cost.
(7) They're not greedy to profit at the expense of HOW TO KEEP FROM FALLING

DeleteWhile working at the hospital during my IT; one Friday, my supervisor came and told us he was going to be teaching us how to collect vàginal swabs the next week. We had each watched him do it a couple of times.
ReplyDeleteOn Tuesday the following week, I was the only IT student present. The other two had come up with excuses to not show up. Till this day, I don't know if it was a mere coincidence or both of them had planned it.
It was antenatal day and so there were many women doing one test or the other.
"Adaobi!" My supervisor called out to me from where we called 'the inner chamber', "wear gloves and come in here."
"Yes sir!" I quickly put on my gloves and went to meet him.
When I entered the room, a woman was lying on the medical examination bed.
"Madam, I think say you don already comot your pant?" He addressed the woman. "E be like say na your first time?"
As the womangot down and started to remove her pant, he turned to me and gave me the sterile vàginal swab.
"Today is not for watching. Today is for you to do it yourself while I guide you. I know you are a fast learner."
The woman looked annoyed.
I swallowed saliva.
"Madam, na you we dey wait oo."
She laid back down on the table and opened her legs to reveal a very hairy ivedi.

ReplyDeleteJust thinking,men and women that abandon their kids and move on with their lives,do they ever regret or think about those kids??how do they do it,not wanting to have anything to do with the child/children?
I see a lack of emotional attachment to their offspring.

MomB, honestly I wonder too,my neighbor abandon her three lovly kids for over two months now with her hubby and house help,no quarreling or fighting,she took off when her hubby went to work.
DeleteNot that she was kidnapped,she moved out of her husband duplex, left the two expensive cars her hubby bought for her, relocated to another state from what the hubby told us.
One thing I notice is, when they have other children/family, they seem OK and maybe to them that is like a replacement. I heard someone recently who said in broad day light, that he is still young (40 year old man) he can still have other kids so even if he doesn't see his other two kids. That to me was just wild. So to that kind of person, it's a replacement

DeleteI think one thing that helps, is identifying what causes it before you can get a handle on it. For example, depressed? Talk to yourself like you are talking to a friend. Like this last anon who is angry as she has no job. Now it's obvious her triggers comes from not having having Job. So start putting strategies in place to secure a job or start a business. Note that people do not deserve is lashing out. Just live. Take deep breath when you feel rush of anger. We can control our emotions.

I was coming back from the market when i saw uncle Jude in a restraunt. I was about passing by when something caught my attention. I walked closer to be sure my eyes weren't deceiving. Haa! I exclaimed throwing my hands in the air . Uncle jude was with another woman. They sat facing each other and smiling like two teenagers that just feel in love. I couldn't believe it, uncle jude that always behaves like a saint with another woman? hmmmmmm this life! He obviously didn't see me, i stood and watched as he fed the lady from his own glass of juice. What am i waiting for sef isn't this enough evidenc? I quickly hurried home, on getting home i didn't waste time in reporting to my Aunt. She immediately changed the wrapper she was tying and put on a pair of trousers before we stormed out of the house. I knew it's time for way as u followed her behind with a plywood

To say they were surprised is an under statement. she was about landing her the 3rd slap when whe heard a man shout from behind 'cut! cut!! cut!!! Madam what is it' He asked angrily referring to my Aunt. At this point the realisation of what was happening dawned on us. Haa so they were only shotting a movie. My aunt threw me a deadly stare and i looked away. 'Pls darling go home we will talk later' uncle jude said as he led my aunt out of the resturant with me following behind. On our way home my Aunt kept on looking at me and smiling i don't know why though. On getting to the gate i remembered something . This morning my girl got another text message saying that the parcel just arrived pH airport via Abuja with reference number UK ******Ng.,she should pay 1,700 for delivery from the port airport,l got angry and pick the phone call the guy,he said he works with British airways that the parcel arrived Abuja from UK yesterday and since my girl doesn't stay in abuja, that the parcel have been sent thru pH airport,l warn him seriously never to contact her again,infact l block his number.
I asked what of the initial 3,800 he was demanding,he said is the charge per kg bla bla bla
