WAEC Students Pictured Writing Exams In The Dark....

Secondary school students sitting for the 2025 West African Secondary Schools Certificate Examination (WASSCE) sat for their English paper in the dark amid blackout and insecurity.
‎The exam started around 7 pm on Wednesday and was scheduled to end around 9 pm in some schools, while candidates in other centers sat for theirs around between 4 pm and 7 pm.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the exam started late in some schools due to alleged question leaks, but these claims have yet to be verified.

‎ some of the students sat for the exam amid blackouts and in insecure zones, using flashlights from their mobile phones to write the exam.

    2. It's not the school's fault Chika, it's a general problem from WAEC itself, My child's school sent message on the platform that the children would be coming home late due to some delays from WAEC.

    3. Lol. Easy Chika-licious aka Iya Boys.
I understand your anger and pain of the frustration on the partbof the students, even their teachers as well. But this isn’t the school’s fault. It’s an internal exam for all secondary schools, organised by an external body called WAEC. If anyone is to be blamed, it should be them.

    4. Imagine writing Exams at 7pm in a dark corner , English for that matter. Exam malpractice was certain. You can't tell me that the whole schools in Nigeria started the exam at exactly 7pm
      The questions must be leaked.

    8. I was thinking actual snakes but the human ones start coming out then too. Children need to be home before it gets dark.

  6. Why should they even be writing exams by 7pm? What happened to writing exams in the mornings. And then no light again. ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก. This is just so fcuking messed up.

  7. I have so much to say about the decay in Nigeria now. It's overboard. Exam questions are leaked on WhatsApp channels and then WAEC goes about thrashing the initial question paper and set another one within a short time . This children stayed back to write exam slated for 9pm by 5:30pm some later in the early night. They had to use candles and torch light.

I weep for the decay in this country. The parents up north had to guide the exam centres with machet incase BH decides to strike.

No improvement and we keep looking away and making effort to japa .
    I am so angry ๐Ÿ˜ก.

Where/what will the unborn generation inherit?

  10. Even if the questions were leaked, what happened to postponing it. What about dome schools that don't have electricity, how would they have written their exams.
How about security, aren't they scared that anything could happen while going back home?
So many questions going through my mind. What is happening with Nigeria educational system. I am so pissed off.

  15. Nigerian government is allergic to change. WAEC NECO and JAMB ought to have been scrapped by now. the fact that it started 100 years ago does not mean it should continue. When something is no longer working, the best solution is to find alternatives. most of these students are minors staying out at night in the name of writing exams. the exam was delayed because of leaked answers? laughable, they have been singing this song since Adam. Every year, there is problem of leaked answers. The question is, who leaks the answers. And the kids are using touch from their mobile phones? they are worried about leaked answers when the kids can as well easily look up answers from their phones.

    1. They don’t know that almost all WAEC papers leaks before exam. Some students I know saw the question before the exam. Only few pass WAEC in Nigeria on their own without cheating. Schools now sort and help their candidates in cheating, parents know this and pay for it.

    Why didn't they postponed it

  25. With the high level of insecurity in the country, WAEC still had to keep these students in school late? They can do better na, this is all shade of wrong.. I pray for progress in our education system because its getting worse.

  26. Stella, the paper that was written by some schools around that 4pm was also cancelled before they all wrote another one late evening, it was not a good experience for our students at all. The ministry of education need to look into this.

  27. So sad. Why didn't they allow the students to sit for the exam in the morning? Is it their faults that the paper leaked? Nonsense. Do you know the number of students that will not get home in one piece because of time the exam ended in the night
