We travelled home during ileya to visit his family,he's from a Muslim background so the family always celebrates Salah.

Whenever I'm traveling the first thing i pack is my drug , I don't know how I forgot to carry it this time, in fact most times he always reminds me of the drug but this time around we both forgot.
I got to know I didn't carry it when it was almost time for me to take my daily dose, I usually use it at night cos it's once daily, I was so angry with myself and the journey is 4 hrs journey, so going back to pick it is not even possible at that time and it's not a drug you can get over the counter...
When I told him he was so worried and I suggested I go back home the next day alone to pick it, he said no that people will think maybe I ran away from iyawo ile duty, you know how some in-laws can be, especially the extended ..
He said it's better for him to go ,that he'll just tell his family they called him from office for something important , though eye brows were raised but we didn't have any other choice. He left very early the second morning which is Salah day and he came back late in the night with the drugs...
he couldn't really celebrate Salah with his family because of that but thank God we had all the weekend and to stay there ,so he still celebrated up a little. May God bless all intentional men
We know the danger of missing my dose for more than once in a row and we don't want to take chances . May God help us..

What are the dangers of missing your dosage for more than once in a row?
God bless your hubby.
ReplyDeleteIt will lead to drug resistant and viral load will go up which means you'll have to change your medication from that once daily to some other form.
ReplyDeleteThere was a time I couldn't get drugs and I stopped mine for almost 3 years, they didn't change my drugs or adjusted the dosage, I continued from where I stopped. They only use that to scare people
DeleteThat's an intentional and loving husband with a heart of gold..

Eeeeyaaah. Good man. Pls let it always be at the top of your take along items to pick when next you are travelling. Shalon
ReplyDeleteNon adherence could lead to resistance which means the drug is no longer as effective for that patient. This causes the viral load to rise and immunity to decrease, making the person more prone to infections which if not controlled , could be fatal. Remember, the crux of HIV's pathology is immunodeficiency, meaning the body is not able to fight off diseases as it's immune system is decimated by the virus. If the virus is no longer contained by the drug due to developing resistance, it multiplies and continues to decimate the immune system so the pathogens in the body are left free to cause illness.
ReplyDeleteIt's similar to the advice that one completes a regimen of antibiotics and takes it as prescribed. The development of drug resistant antibiotics is as a result of abuse and misuse, which kills the susceptible bacteria with half use but leaves part of the population alive with resistance traits to reproduce.
I love that you are both intentional about your health. May God continue to bless your marriage.
Amen. Thanks so much for this contribution
DeleteWhat a good, loving man. God bless him.
