The Kano State Government has allocated N1.5 billion to fund a mass wedding programme for 3,000 couples.
Hisbah Board Commander-General, Sheikh Ibrahim Daurawa, revealed that the funds will cover furniture, food, clothing, dowry, and a N100,000 start-up capital for each bride.

He added that medical screening for hepatitis, HIV, pregnancy, genotype, and other conditions has already begun in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. Out of over 5,000 applicants, only 3,000 will be selected.
The programme date will be announced by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf after the screening exercise.

This is arrant nonsense. After 3,000 people are married off together, will they provide the basic necessities for them to take care of a family? In 2026, the government from the northern extraction should empower its people to thrive, which will further improve their lives and reduce criminality and banditry in the area.

ReplyDeleteImagine creating more social problems for the country. Give them job that will give them regular money and then they could marry if they choose to. These how they keep breeding like rat and creating problem all over the place. Nigeria should separate abeg we are not one with this backward thinking people.
