I grew up eating moimoi made like this but now I use moimoi plates. They are small aluminum plates with cover. They are more healthy than nylons but moimoi leaves are the best.
ReplyDeleteOh! I so much loved and missed this, this is what we call moin moin those days..The tin also gives it a unique aroma and taste.
ReplyDeleteAluminum or stainless steel cups is the option.
ReplyDeleteGone are those days..the moi moi dey sweet die
ReplyDeleteAww! But that is okpa na not moi moi
ReplyDeleteMy friend still dey cook okpa like this oo, the taste and aroma dey make sense jaree
Na moin moin be this oo Glory, very nice in those days.
DeleteYou see this particular type of moimoi ba, it has a special taste that I can't describe.
ReplyDeleteAnd aroma! But washing the cups after use was super hectic.
DeleteNever liked moin moin this method though
ReplyDeleteI prefer using moi moi leaves
ReplyDeleteIt's the best
To wash it na d!e.. we never used it in our house but I see how my friends struggle to wash it. Made me always thank God that we don't use it.
ReplyDeleteNa leaf we dey use.
Those days of real moimoi, when people go to the grinding engine to ground the moimoi to be very smooth. Nowadays moimoi (even for commercial) are grinded in blenders and it makes them not smooth enough. I love my moimoi plain. If anything extra has to be in it, it should not be more than eggs. Struggling with fish bone inside moimoi is a no no for me.
ReplyDeleteThose were sweet days dear 😊
DeleteGround not grinded. No such word as grinded, but Nigerian creation.
DeleteGrind present, ground; past participle & past tense.
Oh i missed those Saturdays kai
ReplyDeleteMoi-moi elepo! 😚
ReplyDeleteYummy moimoi, my mum used small aluminium cups those days.
