Pinky's CORNER

Mr A got married to Madam B.

B happens to be the elder sister of C (Note: B and C are blood sisters, and C does not live in Nigeria; she is based in the USA).
Her elder sister’s husband (Mr A) asked her to invest in properties. After months of pressure from her sister’s husband, she sent him money to help her buy two plots of land. A year later, her younger sister (the one immediately after C) died, and Madam C asked them to bury her on the land she bought instead of “throwing her away” just like that.

Recently, Madam C called me to seek advice. She said her sister’s husband messaged her and told her that the land she bought through him had been collected back by Omo Onile and that they sent him ₦500,000.
She said a lot more, but I will keep some details private. I asked her to send me Mr A’s number (the elder sister’s husband), which she did because I needed to call him to confirm a few things.

I called him and we spoke at length. Yes, he was right to help his sister‑in‑law purchase landed property, but he was very wrong to receive ₦500,000 and keep it with his wife (the elder sister) without informing the real owner. How on earth is it even possible for Omo Onile to seize two plots of land where someone is already buried? Land that is fully fenced?

The issue now is that the man said the people who later won the land in court (if you know, you know) are asking for ₦3 million per plot (₦6 million in total). I asked further: they won in court and are demanding money to release the land, but how did you get the ₦500,000 you said they sent to you? He said, and I quote, “It was the first Omo Onile I bought from that sent me ₦500,000 as compensation.”
This is where I became confused. From my experience, no Omo Onile will ever return money or give compensation if the land you bought has issues.

They would rather promise you another location (provided you keep disturbing or arresting them). Our call was recorded for future purposes. The lady in the US (Madam C) now wants me to step in. She wants me to travel to the location to meet her sister and the husband so they can take me to the land, but I humbly declined for security reasons.

From my investigation, I sensed that her elder sister knows a lot more than she is saying. I also found out that the ₦500,000 payment, as claimed by the husband, was paid directly into his wife’s (the elder sister’s) account with his full consent.

Who can we trust again in this country? When blood relatives keep making life difficult for people abroad. They always want to sit on every penny their so‑called sisters and brothers abroad have suffered for, making them see every other Nigerian as dangerous as the devil.
There have been issues with the land you bought for your in‑law, and you didn’t think it was important to inform her. You only messaged her after a year, at your own convenience  and not only that, after you had already received ₦500,000 on her behalf. Hmmmm.
Something is missing. I am confused. I brought this here so we can learn from one another.
